SAMPLE FORMULA USED TO CALCULATE EST DATE TO 1 BILLION SPOTIFY STREAMS. THIS ONE TAKES RM'S STREAMS.

• Collected Data Points:

  • The total streams on specific dates were given as:

    • August 29, 2024: 246,738,928 streams

    • September 3, 2024: 246,712,235 streams

    • September 7, 2024: 247,527,737 streams

    • September 14, 2024: 248,978,246 streams

    • September 28, 2024: 251,399,043 streams

• Calculated Daily Increases:

  • I calculated the difference in total streams between consecutive dates and divided by the number of days between those dates to find the daily increase rate:

    • From Aug 29 to Sep 3: (246,712,235 - 246,738,928) / 5 days = -5,339 streams/day (a slight decrease)

    • From Sep 3 to Sep 7: (247,527,737 - 246,712,235) / 4 days = 203,876 streams/day

    • From Sep 7 to Sep 14: (248,978,246 - 247,527,737) / 7 days = 207,073 streams/day

    • From Sep 14 to Sep 28: (251,399,043 - 248,978,246) / 14 days = 172,631 streams/day

• Averaged the Daily Increase:

  • The average daily increase was calculated using these values:

• Projected the Time to Reach 1 Billion:

  • The current total streams as of Sep 28 is 251,399,043. The remaining streams needed to reach 1 billion is: 1,000,000,000 − 251,399,043 = 748,600,957 streams

  • Using the average daily increase rate of approximately 144,560 streams/day, the estimated number of days to reach 1 billion is:

    748,600,957

    --------------- = 5,182 days

  • Predicted the Target Date:

  • Adding approximately 5,182 days (around 14.2 years) to the last recorded date (September 28, 2024), the projection lands on November 28, 2038.

This method uses linear extrapolation based on the average daily increase to estimate when the song will reach 1 billion streams.

The calculation does not anticipate any external boost that could happen such as the fandom concentrating on streaming a song or possible use of the song in some show or movie, etc.
