2024-09-29 04:36:38 +0000 UTCI also think that BTS success was seen as Kpop's success as that's how lots of media have marketed it, some doing it intentionally imo because others in the industry benefit from that concept being pushed. And I think because of that strategy many formed a false perception of kpop demand being very high. I believe it saw some growth because of BTS (because BTS was a gateway for many new people to check out other kpop groups out of curiosity. If BTS is this good maybe others are too) but kpop as a whole has been stagnant since BTS' hiatus and financial articles have been written calling it a "kpop crises" along with anticipating BTS' return. If one musical act is sustaining and propelling an entire industry that's not high demand for the kpop industry it's a high demand for BTS. I just think it's unfortunate that artists have no true sense of their real impact or can have realistic expectations when games are played in the media like this, we have this happen in the western music industry too. Artists think they are doing really very well but then have to cancel a concert cuz they can't even fill half the venue.
