Howdy, patrons!
Today's drawing is coming to you with a mini update since it's been a hot second since we've chatted. This work will probably be posted publicly next week, and the wallpaper and printable coloring page versions will be available for patron perks first thing tomorrow!
Now, on to the update:
NYCC wrapped up a couple of weekends ago and was a blast! It was the first convention I'd attended in over two years, and I was all sorts of nervous about it. Thankfully, everything ran smoothly, the show was fun, and I somehow managed to not come down with any sort of con-related illness. Overall: HUGE SUCCESS!
It's hard to put into words, but a lot of things happened during and after the move. I've thought a lot about where I want to take my comics and art, and the projects I'm working on. The biggest reason I had to step away for a few months was that I felt completely aimless. I didn't know what I wanted to do, or if I even wanted to make comics anymore. I was all sorts of confused and burned out, so I took the opportunity of my impending move to go on hiatus and figure stuff out.
I want to thank you all again for giving me that flexibility and understanding. The hiatus helped reaffirm my love of humor, comics, and drawing in general. So, I'm coming back! Ya can't stop me!
I'll probably be speaking more on this soon, but I'd like to let you all know that the Good Boye Guild graphic novel I'm working on is no longer being published through Wonderbound. Not for any juicy or salacious reason, it's just the way things played out. I love the team and company, but things changed and we all decided to part ways on the project. This is a story I'd still like to tell and present to the world, but for now, it's in limbo while I figure out the next steps.
As for other areas of my work: the online shop, livestreams, comic updates, freelance projects, etc. My current schedule is now divided into two work days dedicated to freelancing and three days dedicated to all things Doodle for Food. I don't see myself jumping into things as intensely as I did pre-hiatus. That's what led to being burned out, and I'm not keen to repeat the experience. Loosely speaking, I'd like to get comics up and running starting next week, pick up Patreon perks again, and work on reopening the shop in some capacity before the holidays.
I try to be open about how everything is running behind-the-scenes. I'm usually much better at talking it over 'in person', so if you ever have any questions or find yourself wondering 'what's that Megan up to this week' you're always welcome to comment, DM, and ping me for a chat. I also usually gab about anything and everything on my livestreams, so if you're ever around during those, I'm down for a conversation as well.
Well, I think that's it for now. I hope you all had a lovely week, and have an even lovelier weekend! More art posts are coming soon.
Love,
Megan
