Summoning starsprites

After releasing that, plus the three days of bug fixes and improvements that followed, we both really needed a break! Chelsey's going to be enjoying her break for a while longer, whilst she puts some time into Bovine Excision, but I'm back on the game now and beginning to put more work into two of the most important game mechanics: combat and starsprites.
In the demo that's currently playable, all summoned starsprites are random. We do intend for summoned starsprites to be random in the final game initially, but as you progress - and gain the trust of Kinoko's starsprite friends - you'll be able to unlock the ability to summon starsprite types freely.
This short clip shows how that's coming along, with a handy selection wheel showing you all of your unlocked starsprite colours so you can quickly choose the one you want.
This is just the first of many huge improvements to starsprites that are now being developed. The main purpose of our demo was to demonstrate Kinoko's platforming abilities, though we left the starsprites and combat in to give some indication as to where we'd got to with them. By the time we're ready to release an updated demo, the whole starsprites system should be a lot more advanced and robust - and from there we'll be able to achieve all the things we want to do combining starsprites with enemy combat!
