Reasonable Doubt (1996) - Jay Z Album Reaction

The transition to the rap game in can't knock the hustle is good framing, but the real meat of it personally are the final bars which speak to the aspirational qualities of Jay's music of being dissatisfied with your state of life and acting on that, and his black capitalist ethos, which is kinda antithetical to the current state of thought but imo, was a genuine mentality. "You and having it, good me neither- let's get together and make the whole world believe us." That's a call to the listener and counter to the self focused flexing/mentality expositions of the rest of the track and always makes me feel things.

MMMM!! That’s good to know, thank you!!

Idk if anyone pointed it out but on Dead Presidents, thats Nas saying "Im out for dead presidents to represent me" from The World Is Yours. Before Hov made reasonable doubt, he was a fast flow rapper. Then Nas dropped Illmatic, two years later , jay-z switched his entire flow and sampled Nas. Big point of contention during their beef

Na-Jee Harris

You should definitely listen to both of there 2nd albums as well
