So, since I/we decided that I should apply the new plugins, I took it as an opportunity to take a step back and look at the project.
I realized that... well, three years and it’s still not done? If I keep things going as they are, it will never be done. It’s true, isn’t it?
“Are you quitting the project?”
No. But I took a lot of time to think before I decided to post something. I don’t want to bullshit people.
Here are the main problems:
- Low income.
- Too difficult to update constantly.
These problems are co-related. Low income makes you slow down development so you can cash in and order artwork (and do other things that can generate $ since you don’t get enough). Low content makes people retract their pledge, since they are not getting the content they want. It’s a circle.
“So… what are you planning to do?”
Two things.
1. Well... I am happy to announce I got a friend to program the game for me! We will share the profits and I will not mess around with the code anymore. That means (in a perfect scenario) I will be able to write, make animations and charsets WHILE someone is implementing the game.
Of course, there may be other problems that will surface, but nevertheless, I believe this is a step forward.
2. I am writing another game with a partner. This one will have another patreon and I will post a link here when the demo is done. I strongly believe this one will be better founded because… well… it’s smaller and better thought out in a business sense (Did you sell out? I don’t think so…).
“And the update…?”
My friend/programmer will only be able to star on January (So January it is). Sorry about that. I am in the process of redoing artwork and changing plugins and it’s really taking it’s time. The update will contain the redone prologue and one day after the pirate invasion… I will call it 0.16.
The other game SHOULD be launched on December though.
Now I would like people to give me feedback on some stuff:
Should I remove AP mechanics? I feel like I end up “putting up” with it more than using it.
Should I remove durability? I feel like if I don’t, I should make it like 50 durability. The game will get EVEN MORE real with those type of currency spending though…
Anything you don’t like that could change… this is the time. : P
PS: No, the hunger system stays. : P
