Falco fullbody and news

Hey guys, I am officially writing the next update. I must say that after the last announcement, I AM now feeling I little more relaxed... I guess I needed a little break. So with no further ado, we'll now go to the important matters:

I have an idea for the next update (the one, after this one). I want to make you guys choose where you will go with Diana, she will have a “choice” and it will define where she will end up. I will call the updates 0.11Chaos and 0.11Order.

-“Why?”

I want  this choice to be heavy, so it will have to be two different updates. Since I want to focus on different things that happens simultaneously, and as I AM really curious about the players choices and opinions, this is the only way that I could think of, to do it... Also, this choice will have some very heavy impact on the game.

-“What will the differences be in this choice/update?”

It will happen in different places, it alters the order which you will meet some people, it gives more “approval” to some characters instead of others, and it favors a... “type” of government and the type of “backing” that Diana will receive from it.

-“So, how will it work?”

Well, at the end of this update (probably) you will have to make a choice... This choice will direct you to 0.11Chaos or 0.11Order... Then, after that, Diana will then advance the plot while skipping the other one...

Anyone is free to post their opinion about it. There may be some people that won’t apreciate too much difference between playthroughs... (Of course, there will be an missable H-scene)...

Well, I guess that was it, now back to work! Next post: Artwork.

PS: Do you guys think I should add  a “comment” from Diana every time that “time” advances and she will lose vitality? Something like “Hum, I better eat something”?

THAT is a bug. It's supposed to go down 50 points... I will check that quest. : P

What felt off was having to pause during the carriage rides to eat and the hunger spikes after some cut-scenes that forward the time. I was doing the flowers mission, before talking with the girl for the last time Diana's hunger was around 70 and the vitality at 10. The girl cooks for Diana and they eat, but after the scene the vitality had dropped to 9, because the hunger had reached it's maximum. So it felt weird having to monitor the hunger before every cut-scene, especially when you don't know when a cut-scene is coming. And then they actually ate in the event. Unless the girl was a lousy cook and the food was bad :)

Every round of combat makes the hunger go up 1 point... I could take that off but I don't think it would make sense. What I am going to do is open up the menu when time is passing and Diana's hungry, that way I will give you opportunity to feed her before the time passes and you will not get the "surprise 9 vitality" stuff...

StalkerRoguen

Oh, yeah, the gloryhole, I forgot about that one. Is it possible to pause the hunger meter during active quests (like the pirates attack, or the prison escape)?

I understand the critique in regards the difficult of the encounter, so I will send you a PM about it (I don't want to spoil it here). Ah, I don't want to spoil it for you too so, am I correct in assume that you finished the update? Falco get's stronger with more skills, very strong. Perhaps I will make him start with more Job points, but I will think more about it later. HCG: No, I don't think you did. There is Jacob peeking scenes but that's it. I set them up with the people in Haddad, there will me more in the future. Food: Oh, well I think that when travelling it is a valid concern to have, so I wanted it to have a place in the game. But I respect your opinion.

Slayer + "sprinting back and forth before the battle to harvest MP" was the recipe for destruction, I slaughtered them. I don't think I would be able to kill Lassius with 6 guards though. It is a strange design decision, if even you weren't able to kill him. A player who decides to act stubborn would end up tearing his hair out, without even knowing why that battle is so insanely difficult. The small guy was a little better with Sand and Sneak Attack, but he could barely survive the two turns needed to execute his combo. Another strange decision, making his basic attack so weak. It means that you either learn the right combination of skills, or he's useless. If he's going to be so weak, you may as well give him the skills to begin with, there's no reason for him to start fresh. In most of the RPGs, the team mates you encounter have some basic set of abilities when you first meet them. A walkthrough and some hints would definitely be useful. For one thing, I was wondering if I have missed some H-scene. After Diana and her brother got separated I found only the bj scene with the dwarf. Oh, btw, I don't like the food mechanic. I don't think it adds anything to the game. Just slows down the adventure and makes the player waste time and money. It's an RPG after all, not a sandbox life simulator. That's just my 5 cents.

I didn't beat it... But there is a reason for that difficulty. Falco's damage is 0 because of the guard's defense. If the defense drops or an attack does double damage, it will surpass it(like I said, it ignores defense). I will check some more feedbacks... Perhaps I will let Kardol be playable in the future. PS: Perhaps I will post an walkthrough next week, maybe it will help.

StalkerRoguen

6? Is it even possible to beat him with 6 guards? I don't see how any of my guys could survive 4-5 hits in a row. That weapon could be useful. I had the Barrier on Diana's brother, because I prefer to have the healer on the back row. That way in an intense battle they can heal the tank, while he stays in defense. Otherwise a front row healer is opened for some serious damage when he heals. I know about the Sneak Attack's bonus damage, I was planing to learn the sand skill on the next opportunity. But double of 0 is still 0. Yes, Diana is fed well. I was always keeping the health on 10. It fell to 9 in the prison. I can probably optimize them better and win the fight (with the boss and 3 guards max). The whole situation of having to develop a new character in the middle of an intense quest, without knowing anything about his skills, is very arbitrary. This Falco guy for example - I get him right before the first 4 guards battle and I'm forced to choose some skills, or they'll destroy me. The save is right before the battle, so when I load it the fighting starts automatically. I'll let you know if I decide to lead a save from before the prison and give it another go. But honestly, there we so many frustrating sections - series of battles without the option to save, important choices right after a serious battle...

Well, Lassius fight varies based on the impression that he got from Diana. If you told him off most of the time, he will be with six guards ( : P)... But if you were REALLY polite, he will be defenseless. Some hints: There is a Halberd(better weapon for Diana) hidden in the lowest corner to the left on the map (Go always to the left, from you cell). You have to allow the guards to see you... Trick him going up and then go back for the treasure... It’s hard. As for the skills, I recomend you learn barrier with Diana... It's very useful. I think Lauren is best with “Riposte I”. Counter chance is better in this context. Sneak attack does Double damage and ignores defense IF the opponent is dazzled. You can dazzle opponents with “throw sand” skill. Diana gains back MP when she walks, so instead of rushing, try to walk around a little. Diana’s “Slayer” Adrenaline mode preservers adrenaline... So you can enter fights with a full bar... "Depending on how you program yourself". Diana’s solid Break with Falco Throw Dagger do a good ammount of damage, can leave the enemy bleeding and has no cooldown... But you have to buy daggers... Falco’s potion Bomb, makes use of one potion and affects allparty... So I think it is pretty good. PS: Are you feeding Diana well? : P PS2: A lot of people complained about the four guards... Perhaps I will make them weaker in the newxt update... PS3: Ah! There is also a guard who sells and buys items.

StalkerRoguen

What? So there is another boss? Damn. It's Lassius, he's with 3 other guards. And I barely made it through the groups of 4 guards, let alone if one of them is a boss. I have Diana with pretty much basic gear, because I was saving my cash and hoping to find something useful on the road. And I have Reinforce Ally with JP to learn two more skills, but I hardly have MP and AP for the heal, don't see how another skill would help me much. Weapon Training I and File Slice for Lauren, but the second makes less damage then her basic hit, it's only useful when she's in a back row. And for Falco I have Sneak Attack and Mark. But he makes 0 damage, both normal hits and the Sneak Attack. So I pretty much keep him on defense in the front row, to absorb some attacks and when his life gets low I move him to the back to heal with potions or throw acid flasks. But I have very little of those left, after the two 4 guards battles.

stoperArt

I value the people's opinion... Sometimes I have problems balancing the game's difficulty... But before that... "I know it's optional, but it rubs me the wrong way to leave him"... Are you talking about Lassius? If so... Can you tell me about how much guards are you fighting? ...Os it's the chimera? Because I toned her down before releasing it...

StalkerRoguen

Went trough hell at the prison, with this useless little guy who makes 0 damage and is as easy to kill as a fly. With potions and acid flasks I somehow reached the exit. Killing the boss is impossible though, not unless I go back and try developing the character differently and buying more gear or something. I know it's optional, but it rubs me the wrong way to leave him. Sorry, mate. I tried, but it's way too annoying for my taste. I wanted a fun sexy adventure, not this frustrating exercise. Shame, because I like the characters and the story.

stoperArt

Hmm sounds really interesting what you plan with Diana there. Looking forward to it. Also yes, about Diana commenting on eating. In general it would be better to make players more aware of certain game elements early on. I myself was totally oblivious about the need to eat for a long time. ;)
