2025-03-04 14:29:33 +0000 UTCYeah i knew the type of group G.A's were based off of the name alone and from what little you had thats dope.We need more people in the world like that today
Kausion
2025-03-03 21:48:09 +0000 UTCI did think that when you mentioned Malcolm and this refreshed my memory with that discussion i were listening to on YT live. One is a member of NOI i forgot what other dude is a part of but he mentioned the 5 percenters and that the dude got kicked out.
Kausion
2025-03-03 21:46:31 +0000 UTCGuardian Angles is a non profit volunteer group different from the National Guard. The GAs made citizens arrest on the subways and the streets they also started educational programs for schools and business.
Gary Best
2025-03-03 16:58:10 +0000 UTCThey have members who are NOI and a lot of people get them confused with being a NOI group. The leader was once apart of The NOI but like I said he was kicked out for what he was preaching and that’s when he started The five percenters.
Gary Best
2025-03-03 16:52:58 +0000 UTCCool! (bc of different time zones)Wish yall uploads would drop at night on my side😆(4-5 hours away) cant please us all, & cant have it our way all the time though right lol off topic but im one day ahead of yall and also there is a place here which is the first place in the world to see the sun(depending on time of year)as its also said to be Kiribati,Japan,Russia lol definitely watching TBS tonight thanks for the heads up!
Kausion
2025-03-02 03:42:58 +0000 UTCYeah thats part of the reason i like the movie also lol i actually forgot about it until thinking hard on past movies.Use to watch that one often back in 95 around the same time id see Mississippi Burning aswell
Kausion
2025-03-02 03:35:51 +0000 UTCI aint where yall aint so dont thinknive heard of em except maybe 5 percenters unless im thinking of 1 percenters 🤔 but i may have heard the name during a live discussion on Youtube?.They arent a similar organization or affiliated with the NOI are they, assume not.I may or may not heard about the G.As and have seen some stuff online regarding the recent attacks in NY subways and is it the national guard doing passenger checks? People were blaming Biden for opening the borders
Kausion
2025-03-02 03:33:30 +0000 UTCYea we have its dropping in a few. A little hint… we loved it and also have a short part at the end where we read about the controversy
Jae Amanda
2025-03-02 03:22:57 +0000 UTCIdk if yall have watched The Blind Side already but aside from the BS regarding the movie and the fact its another "white savior" lol i previously mentioned in comments Sandra Bullock winning an oscar for her role.I myself like how well she played her role in TBS shes quite funny in her comedy roles too
Kausion
2025-03-02 03:21:21 +0000 UTCAnother thing that movie has a lot of well known actors and actresses don’t know why I never heard of it before
Gary Best
2025-03-02 02:48:10 +0000 UTCYou already bro yea I wonder the same thing too I feel the closest thing to the black panthers we have now are 5 percenters/God body idk where you from but in NY they are an African American nationalist group, the leader Clearance 13X who was an understudy of Malcolm X. He started the group after getting kicked out the temple for preaching that the Black Man is God they are still around but not as big as they was in the 80s-90s. Another group are the Guardian Angels they are a group that protected the NY subways another group you don’t hear much about anymore but recently resurfaced after all the killings and madness that’s been going on the subways in the past few months, both groups spread out worldwide. But honestly nobody is willing to die for this shit and it’s hard to unite black ppl now in days everybody want to do they own thing.
Gary Best
2025-03-02 02:23:23 +0000 UTCAgree we need strong black leaders in this world for the youth and for the people but not only black, in all indigenous cultures.Seems we dont have any revolutionary type leaders nowadays or very few atleast not in the mainstream, not like it use to be.Wondering if its all part of their plan to keep we the people down and to prevent from rising up,they fear a global revolution imo and always have.Judas & The Black Messiah sl& Panther seem to be identical for obvious reasons or atleast similar.Thank you for checking that out bro 🤜🤛😎 lol
Kausion
2025-03-02 01:32:43 +0000 UTCYes "Glory" forgot about that one 🤦 cant speak for Gary so well have to wait for his response lol
Kausion
2025-03-02 01:06:42 +0000 UTCAnything with Daniel Kaluuya has my vote. Even though I missed the poll 😭
Jeffery Lewis
2025-03-01 22:10:59 +0000 UTCYa wouldn’t add Glory to that list?
Jae Amanda
2025-03-01 22:01:41 +0000 UTCJust got finished watching Panther it was good it was also interesting learning about how they started and the things they went thru I always respected they movement and what they stood for 🔥🔥
Gary Best
2025-03-01 21:21:12 +0000 UTCYall its basically the same story as "Panther"(1995) lol BlacKkKlansman is also a Spike Lee joint, producer Jordan Peele all em are good movies. We should have done all of these BH related movies throughout the month lol "Panther" is a low budget film but suggested it for its actors, actresses story and the fact it seems to be a lesser known or forgotten film
Kausion
2025-03-01 08:13:25 +0000 UTCFeel you on the "tv movie" part lol thanks for checking it out
Kausion
2025-03-01 07:44:16 +0000 UTCI watched this today since u brought it up and I nvr seen it. It was ok. Story was kinda all over the place and the budget definitely showed. A lot of good black actors in it but it felt like a tv movie. Which I’m kinda used to with Mario van peeples and his pops. Think it should’ve been shorter as well. Would love for someone to remake it.
Kangdarius
2025-03-01 03:31:17 +0000 UTCYessss I love late night post 🥰 give me some time to get a snack and chill
Lyniss Barnes
2025-03-01 03:12:38 +0000 UTCAgain, these polls dont do some of us any favors.Almost all polls ends badly for me personally 😂 movies id like to see or see sooner rather than later never or rarely get chosen which is why i gave up on suggestion polls
Kausion
2025-03-01 03:03:03 +0000 UTCYeah man agree 💯 my exact thoughts too i also thought "Malcolm X" were like the only BH movie that were done from what i recall.Should have did a majority of these in the poll aswell as a few others(Mississippi Burning,Rosa Parks,BlacKkKlansman,One Night In Miami)etc and left thee unrelated for later. One of if not my top pick for BHM would have been Panther. All of these & more would have been great for BHM but you right, still a possibility of checkin em out in future
Kausion
2025-03-01 02:50:56 +0000 UTCReaction dropping within the next hour family! Late night vibe 🌑🍿
Jae Amanda
2025-03-01 02:46:16 +0000 UTCNow you got me interested we mess with Jordan peele films ode and his spin on the twilight zone
Jae Amanda
2025-03-01 02:45:15 +0000 UTCYall sleeping on Judas. It’s a really entertaining movie about how the black panther was infiltrated. But with an almost Jordan Peele vibe
RG
2025-03-01 02:43:49 +0000 UTCThey way the great debaters don’t have 100+ votes is insane to me
Lique Rhone
2025-03-01 02:04:33 +0000 UTCI think we should have got more movies like the ones that’s on this poll thru out the month because if you look back we only got 1 and that was Malcolm X, the rest were just mainly all black cast and we’ll get those kind of movies regardless just becuz of the group we have in the channel, but that doesn’t mean we won’t get the movies we wanted to see in the future.
Gary Best
2025-03-01 01:20:11 +0000 UTCThis why i hate polls a lot of em vote for particular movies over others id personally prefer to watch.TGD were my top 3 along with Rosewood.Atleast HF's made it and its positive BH rather than negative.Think another BH movie should have taken the spot of DTRT & had checked that out another time. There are many great BH movies that we should really have done an entire month of em,other(unrelated movies) can wait lol Theyll probably check out TGD anyways though
Kausion
2025-03-01 00:37:16 +0000 UTCThat would make sense if speaking to them directly which, we sometimes are not,we are conversing and discussing the movie with other members here who've seen the movie. Its an A&B conversation, if i were speaking to them directly i would @ them or specifically say their names but again,i hear what you saying, have edited that comment in case they were to read it
Kausion
2025-03-01 00:30:03 +0000 UTCThe FACT is that it is a FICTIONAL story based on several real life events. The movies’ location, the characters & the plot were all made up. We can flip & twist ANY black movie into being black history with your logic.
Quenna Monroe
2025-03-01 00:01:06 +0000 UTCYeah I get where you coming from, the movies you mentioned that you consider Black history show serious sacrifices our elders made during crazier times in this country
GG
2025-02-28 23:27:07 +0000 UTC😂 i do understand why people dislike it,it can be annoying but "Things are gonna heat up" 🤣🤦
Kausion
2025-02-28 23:15:27 +0000 UTC@Kasion 🤣🤣🤣 Somebody on here got mad at me cause midway through the wire season 3 I said things are finna heat up🔥🔥
Pdawg662
2025-02-28 23:12:27 +0000 UTCTaking shots i see lol quotes are not an entire movie and can also give insight as to what the movie is about or how good a movie might be but i do see your point. Its similar to telling first time viewers whats happening next during a movie whilst watching like 🙄🤦😤😂
Kausion
2025-02-28 23:08:35 +0000 UTCYes true,im not saying hood movies cant be considered BH im saying if you consider DTRT as BH than youd have to add all thee others such as BNTH,M2S etc but you right DTRT depicts racial tensions in the hood where as BNTH & Menace dont but would still class DTRT as more "Hood" than BH if getting specific especially when there are many others that could have tajen its place such as "Rosewood" "Amistad" "Panther" etc
Kausion
2025-02-28 23:04:52 +0000 UTCJackie
2025-02-28 22:03:38 +0000 UTCYeah…Boyz in the Hood gave more voice to Black communities in Cali, talked about gentrification at a time where it wasn’t popular, was one of the first films to showcase the dangers of gang life in the 90s and is also preserved at the library of congress….Menace to society followed suit (Charles S Dutton character!) and helped launch the careers of many Black actors/actresses that we see… All hood movies don’t have a message that’s being taught to the Black community BUT we can’t deny those that do Why can’t movies located in the hood be Black History movies? These movies literally gave voices to the voiceless and Black history movies shouldn’t be limited to movies based on events that happened before 1960. The “hood movies” are still a part of our history and what was going on at the time. And I wouldn’t put do the right thing at the same level as boyz in the hood and menace to society…the two latter movies mainly showcased gang life, not mainly racism.
GG
2025-02-28 21:23:43 +0000 UTCIn that case "Menace To Society" "Boyz N Tha Hood" etc are BH movies. This is why i said DTRT imo is more a hood movie than actual BH such as "Malcolm X" "Hidden Figures" "Rosewood" "Mississippi Burning" etc are
Kausion
2025-02-28 21:09:24 +0000 UTC"Blood Diamond" could also be a part of BHM ,good movie
Kausion
2025-02-28 21:02:35 +0000 UTCSigh…it’s your opinion to not like it, but it’s a fact that it’s Black history. That’s all.
GG
2025-02-28 20:48:34 +0000 UTCThank you! Haha havent seen anyone suggest it so had hoped BHM would be the perfect time for them to check it out.Use to watch it often back in 95
Kausion
2025-02-28 20:41:31 +0000 UTCYou’re saying I’m entitled to my opinion but you’re still trying to force yours on me 😂 I still think it’s the LEAST historical of the choices listed. It didn’t win anyway. If they do watch it, I’ll skip it like I’ve done others in the past but I hope y’all enjoy it.
Quenna Monroe
2025-02-28 20:23:49 +0000 UTCNah definitely you are entitled to your opinion, period. The thing is, we have to be careful with the misinformation of saying movies like this one aren’t Black History. Not only for other races to see but for oursevles to understand as well. It factually and objectively is a black history film (based on the facts listed above).
GG
2025-02-28 19:03:08 +0000 UTCI’m not arguing. I commented MY OPINION just like everybody else. I don’t know why I’m having to defend/debate how I feel.
Quenna Monroe
2025-02-28 18:03:33 +0000 UTCYou right but these are facts and we not here to argue especially amongst ourselves as black people we should be uplifting and teaching each other ✊🏾🖤
Gary Best
2025-02-28 17:40:05 +0000 UTCI wish the great debators got more votes! Not many people react and it’s a great film with a great cast
Zora Green
2025-02-28 16:27:52 +0000 UTCTHE blind side shouldn’t be watched anyway… they took the story to a wrong direction. The real life Character Michael oah.. denied a lot of things that happened in that movie
Reggie Riobe
2025-02-28 16:27:40 +0000 UTCY’all are entitled to your opinions & I’m entitled to mine.
Quenna Monroe
2025-02-28 15:42:52 +0000 UTCIt was also inspired by the 1986 Howard Beach incident
Gary Best
2025-02-28 15:28:44 +0000 UTCSame exactly ❤️ plus they acted they butt off in this movie
Lyniss Barnes
2025-02-28 15:13:48 +0000 UTCWe don’t lose watching any of these films for the last day of Black history month.
Nikki
2025-02-28 14:37:02 +0000 UTCAnd how we impacted the culture around us. The film is important to film making in general. It’s studied in art schools. It’s inspired a wide range of films, not just from Black American film makers.
Nikki
2025-02-28 14:35:00 +0000 UTCIt wasn’t the first but it’s renown for pushing modern Black cinema & telling our stories in a way much different than had been done before. Stylistically the cinematography is also important to film making in general, not just Black movies. Making it a historical maker in film.
Nikki
2025-02-28 14:32:07 +0000 UTCAgreed
Nikki
2025-02-28 14:28:47 +0000 UTCI think when we think about Black History we only think about major events but we got to remember Black History is everything Black.
Gary Best
2025-02-28 14:21:19 +0000 UTCPanther not only was that movie but the soundtrack holy fuck we used to play that all day!!
Ðïäßølîç
2025-02-28 12:47:03 +0000 UTCI’m sure all of those things are true for movies BEFORE Do The Right Thing. It wasn’t the FIRST. It’s not Black history. We can agree to disagree ☺️
Quenna Monroe
2025-02-28 11:52:53 +0000 UTCI’ve been nominating a Soldier’s Story every time. But I think most patrons are young and simply don’t know the movie.
Nikki
2025-02-28 11:44:44 +0000 UTCDo the Right Thing itself - as a movie - IS Black history. It was inducted into the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress. It’s a cultural significant landmark film that paved the way in modern Black cinema. Remember they had to fight to get it in the movie theaters.
Nikki
2025-02-28 11:43:49 +0000 UTCDo the right thing by voting for "Do The Right Thing".
Smitty Benzo
2025-02-28 09:30:23 +0000 UTCJust because February is over don’t mean we have to stop celebrating BH so imma check it out for sure
Gary Best
2025-02-28 09:28:26 +0000 UTCI voted hidden figures. Just think the month should end on a happier note. Plus that history is dope. I’m just glad the white woman movie ain’t getting watched in this month lol
Kangdarius
2025-02-28 07:56:54 +0000 UTCThat was definitely my vote
B.Laster
2025-02-28 06:56:11 +0000 UTCGoogle calls it fictional but based on real events but I get what you’re saying too
Quenna Monroe
2025-02-28 06:38:00 +0000 UTCWith all due respect, the movie is not fiction😭 (if you look up the real story, it’ll show you, but I don’t wanna say it and spoil it) I get what you saying tho💪🏿
GG
2025-02-28 06:34:37 +0000 UTCThat’s your opinion & I respect it. I didn’t think it was that good. It’s ok but I like other Spike Lee movies better. I just think there are lots of important BLACK HISTORY stories that actually happened that should be told before a fictional one. A wall in a pizzeria is not at the top of the list, IMO.
Quenna Monroe
2025-02-28 06:22:13 +0000 UTC😂this what im saying i hate polls majority of the time the picks i personally would like to see dont get votes 😤 lol not 💩ing on DTRT either bro just wouldnt be my top choice @tm,any other time definitely lol if you aint seen "Panther"(1995)check out the trailer on Youtube lmk what you think.
Kausion
2025-02-28 05:59:59 +0000 UTC"Mississippi Burning" is definitely BH would have been good to watch in memory of Gene Hackman who literally just passed away
Kausion
2025-02-28 05:49:48 +0000 UTCThis why i hate polls, two of the top choices "TGD's" "Rosewood" arent even a top 3 based off of current votes 😑 lol
Kausion
2025-02-28 05:47:42 +0000 UTCWe knew Hidden Figures was going to do numbers 😂 but I forgot I seen Judahs and the Black Messiah and that movie is 🔥🔥 and it’s doin bad on the poll
Gary Best
2025-02-28 05:46:42 +0000 UTCBut it is based on true things that happened when the movie came out and that’s happening til this day! Ion know, I think a movie doesn’t have to be based on an exact sequence of events in order to be Black history ✊🏿 all movies on the poll are good tho
GG
2025-02-28 05:41:00 +0000 UTC#1 personal choice "Panther"(1995) From the poll definitely "The Great Debaters" "Rosewood" "Hidden Figures" "Judahs & The Black Messiah" DTRT is cool but imo is more a hood movie than black history.Assuming the majority of the picks for Hidden Figures were from the women? 🤣
Kausion
2025-02-28 05:40:55 +0000 UTCHidden figures!!
Star
2025-02-28 05:33:05 +0000 UTCAll of these are based on true stories EXCEPT Do The Right Thing. It’s literally NOT Black History 😩😂
Quenna Monroe
2025-02-28 05:30:11 +0000 UTCDo the right thing would be a great ending to Bhm but the ppl want what they want ig😭
GG
2025-02-28 05:27:23 +0000 UTCI hope Do the Right Thing wins. Super classic film.
M Salam
2025-02-28 04:34:08 +0000 UTCA Soldiers Story react would have been dope for Black History month, but overall BingeTies represented the culture for Black History month.
Donte Sanders
2025-02-28 03:29:49 +0000 UTCNice poll! I picked them ALL!

Mr. B
2025-02-28 01:52:45 +0000 UTCDo the right thing is going to win…. But Rosewood 1997.. is a strong movie but a very tough watch… A true unfortunate story taken place in the south
Reggie Riobe
2025-02-28 01:49:16 +0000 UTCAnytime! I don't always vote on polls if there's movies I'm not familiar with or like.

2025-02-28 01:38:50 +0000 UTCYall HAVE to do Amistad (1997) Omg that movie is soooo ground breaking and will really hit you emotionally like you’ve never been hit before and based on REAL events 💯💯💯Another great film with Morgan Freeman starring in it to close out Black History Month
