Friends S7 Ep: 23 & 24 - FULL REACTION

The plot twist at the end was insane!!! Loved these two episodes through. It was awesome seeing Chandler once again facing his trauma and making things work for Monica. Enjoy :)

I like your view on the protectiveness of Ross with his, “I’ll kick your ass speech.” You’re right that he should trust his sister. I would be wildly embarrassed if my sister said that to my boyfriend, but it’s nice to see that Ross supports Monica. I’m someone who has been very independent my whole life, and not by choice, so although I want to be trusted with my decisions, to have that support must be wonderful.

Teej

I will say as a stage actress and a singer… annunciation of words does sometimes cause you to spit sometimes, but nothing like that. 🤣 It’s never on purpose. Sometimes it just happens. 🤣🤣🤣

Teej

I really appreciated what you said about trusting your sister to make her own decisions. Protectiveness can be a great thing, but not at the expense of the person's free will. It might be different if you're a parent...? I don't know.

Maisie

I think there is a difference though between stepping in when something actually happened and preemptively warning the guy. Of course you want to support your siblings in whatever way helps them if something bad happens to them. But when it comes to the speech beforehand, I agree with Oscar. But in the end, that is probably different for everyone, as long as the sister is okay with it, it's fine. But probably advisable to check with her.

Sarah

I'm so excited for the next few episodes!

I disagree with your point of view on Ross's protective speech to Chandler. I believe it is a brothers duty to look after his little sister/s. If a guy ever cheated on or physically hurt my little sister I would definitely step in

Been waiting for this one for a while!

These episodes are SO good. Chandler's freak-out about the wedding is pretty on point for the character, honestly. But of course it was done to create drama. And that ending was SHOCKING I tell you! I agree about Ross's "I will hunt you down and kick your ass" speech to Chandler, but I also think it's oddly sweet. At the end of the day, he came through and brought Chandler back (along with Phoebe). Fun facts: When Joey first meets Richard, Joey says that he just won an Oscar and Richard says he has lost three times. It's a tongue-in-cheek reference to Gary Oldman's reputation at the time as one of the finest actors to have never won or been nominated for an Oscar (kinda like Leo before he won for The Revenant in 2016). He did win in 2018, 17 years after the airing of this episode for his role as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour. He was previously nominated in 2012 for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (but lost to Jean Dujardin for The Artist), and again in 2021 for Mank (but lost to Anthony Hopkins for The Father). He was nominated for an Emmy for his appearance in these episodes. Richard grabbing the bottle as Joey carries him out of his dressing room was ad-libbed by Gary. Also, he and Matt Leblanc both appeared in Lost in Space in 1998. Sidenote: From 1994-1996, Gary was engaged to Italian actress and model Isabella Rossellini, his co-star in Immortal Beloved. Ross bumped her for Winona Ryder on his freebie list back in S3. Gary was also briefly married to Uma Thurman from 1990-1992. Ironically (or not), he's struggled with alcoholism and has been sober since 1997. A funny callback to 7x01 when Monica finds Rachel and Ross kissing on the night of her and Chandler's engagement, she is furious and says to Rachel "On the night you get engaged, I'm going to announce I'm pregnant". But on the night of Chandler and Monica's wedding, Rachel is revealed to be pregnant. Anastassakis, the first name that Rachel reads for the Greek wedding is Jennifer Aniston's original Greek surname, which became Aniston after her family moved from Greece to the US. Additionally, Stephanopoulos is the last name of George Stephanopoulos, the neighbour the girls spied on in S1. And Acidophilus is a bacteria species (Lacto Bacillus acidophilus). Originally the writers WERE going to make Monica pregnant. However they thought this was too conventional and wanted a more dramatic cliffhanger. The final scene with the close-up on Rachel was shot after the audience left to keep it a surprise. When freaking out about the wedding, Chandler decides to see if he could prove that he and Monica are related. In real life, Matthew and Courteney are distantly related. Ironically, the USA fought Germany in WWI, while Mexico was neutral (like Switzerland in both WWI and WWII). Continuity errors/goofs: Most production companies don't film on Saturday or Sunday, so Joey wouldn't have been expected to work since they filmed for what appears to have been a few hours the previous night. There's also no indication that Richard was drinking while on set even though the director states he has been drinking all night. Within this same error, it appears as though Joey was done for the day relatively early (after working all night) and he wouldn't have the authority to stop production due to Richard being drunk. In the office, Chandler says "The only person that can make marriage work is Paul Newman". While his marriage to actress Joanne Woodward lasted for over 50 years until his death in 2008, he divorced in 1958 after being married for 11 years to Jackie Witte. Sidenote: Paul Newman originated the phrase "Why go for a hamburger when you have steak at home?", when he was asked in an interview how he remained faithful to Joanne. When Rachel finds the Greek Orthodox priest and asks him to do the ceremony, he had just finished officiating at another wedding. However, those of the Greek Orthodox faith would be getting married in a church, not in a hotel. Also, as he starts the ceremony, the priest says, "Dearly Beloved...". Greek Orthodox weddings are done only in Greek, not in English. During Ross's toast he makes a joke about Chandler not being a fan of long term relationships and the only one he had was with a girl named Molly, who was his dog. But Chandler hates/is afraid of dogs. However, it may have started after that. When Ross and Phoebe find Chandler at his work, it says 'Mike Smith' on the door and many think it is a goof. In the uncut version, Ross notices the sign and Chandler realises he is in the wrong office. Additionally, Mike Smith was the construction coordinator for the show. When Jack and Judy are in Central Perk, they act as though they have never seen Gunther, but he was at Monica's 30th birthday, which they both attended. Jack could just not have remembered him but Judy certainly would have 🤣 Ross says he's never walked down the aisle knowing it couldn't end in divorce. But he walked Carol down the aisle when she married Susan. Also, he should have said "he's never walked down the aisle knowing it couldn't end in divorce FOR HIM". Similarly, Rachel says "I'm never going to get married!". However, she was married to Ross (though it's possible she was referring to a proper marriage, so not necessarily a goof). While planning for the wedding, Monica asks Chandler whether he thinks they should have lilies or roses. Monica says that they are going to have lilies (not taking into account Chandler's opinion). But at the wedding there are mainly roses. In the message Monica has recorded, that makes Chandler freak out, she calls herself and Chandler "The Bings". However, Monica already told Chandler she wasn't planning to change her last name. Monica and Chandler had booked the Morgan Chase Museum as their wedding venue but the actual wedding clearly takes place elsewhere.

I'm very glad you had a good break!

I’m excited to see your reactions to these last two episodes of this season… I’m just going to watch now. I’ve been very sick this past week, and today is a day where I can finally rest, so I can’t wait to watch!

Teej

I remember watching this when it first aired, and I just went, "What, what, what?" at the end.. I didn't see it coming. Great reaction!!

Anjali Agarwal

Kim Overrein Rey

where are episodes 21 and 22?

maria

Dis is one of my favorite episodes of friends Your reaction was amazing Day 21: of suggestions my girl (1991)

Emilie Fredriksen

This might be my favorite season finale of the show. Firstly, it’s Chandler and Monica’s wedding. I love how we’ve been able to see them through different stages of their relationship. For a long time we saw them just as friends. Then through dating to being an engaged couple, and now being able to see them married. They’ve grown together so much. They will always be one of my favorite tv couples of all time. ❤️ Secondly, Ross is the MVP of these episodes. Even though he gave that big brother “I’ll kick your ass” speech to Chandler at the beginning, when Chandler was really panicking, Ross came through and understood how to help him. Breaking it down into simple steps and reassuring him. He handled that situation so well. Lastly, what an unexpected plot twist at the end! Looking forward to next season!

Kelsey

More clever plot writing to come. The beginning episodes of the coming series are great.

Tom

Liam

He doesn’t know who the father is yet so why comment this at all?

Kelsey Cook

Excellent reaction as always, Oscar. And please don’t apologize for needing a break. We all do and I hope this one was good. And if you ever need one again, I feel everyone here will be very understanding. ❤️

Kelsey Cook

Perfect timing, just landed in Syndey of all places, watching this at the airport 😄

Bungus Fungus

Gotta be one of my favorite finales from the show! Such a great plot twist!

JT

Not to be negative but I hate the "Rachel's pregnant" storyline. If the father was someone else maybe I'd like it. There are some good episodes but mostly, the storyline sucks

Girls Always

Oh my goodness.😮 I still need to catch up with this. I'm putting this on my to do list this today. I chose to rest, read and edit. I hope you guys are doing well. I don't know if anybody else got sick. Most of my town got sick. Best wishes to you guys and Aussie.
