2024-08-01 21:00:34 +0000 UTCThe beginning of this movie is fantastic, because both "sides" are 100% correct, it's an impossible situation. Mr. Incredible desperately wants to live up to his full potential and save people, real human beings, save their entire lives, and he did so. He snuck out constantly to try and accomplish this. But at the same time risking his own family and not being there enough for them. Was he wrong? I can't even say definitively either way. You don't expect this kind of thought-provoking philosophy from an animated children's movie (more of an all-age kind of movie really).

2024-08-01 04:14:13 +0000 UTCAfter revisiting this through your reaction, too, it occurs to me (and maybe I'm just super overdue to this realization), that a great foil or counterpoint to Syndrome's whole ethos is Edna Mode. Edna doesn't have powers, either, but she does have an amazing skillset, which she used for good in the world. She's also very much a superhero geek. And I love that!

2024-07-31 23:04:46 +0000 UTCI love the brother/sister chemistry between the two characters, it´s kind of like mine with my sister. Oh and it is one of the best in movies of all time in my opinion. And the movie is one of the best. I will not say THE best because Pixar has many good ones, but it is at the top Oh and of course we can´t ignore the goverment drones in this movie aka what the wrong persons call "birds" (I hope the sarcasm in the last sentence is understandable, i don´t believe in that but it is funny that this is their believe. And a pretty funny thing after rewatching i recocnised a few years ago)

But I can't believe you didn't notice how Dash and Violet survived the rocket blast in the cave because...THEY ACTUALLY RAN TO THE SIDE 🤣

The Incredibles is just a flat out masterpiece! The drama, tone, humor, action, heart---everything in perfect balance. Not to mention the acting, because holy cow. Holly Hunter is an absolute force, and what a shame that animation/voice acting is so underappreciated in the mainstream. The authenticity and conviction she brought to that role (that everyone brought!) floors me every time. And my favorite little easter egg: Helen's call sign she repeats on the plane "India Golf Niner-Niner" is Brad Bird's nod to the 1999's Iron Giant 😍

It’s amazing and has so many layers it also is very mature going into topics like suicide and infidelity. Cool thing to note is The families names and powered describe who they are in the family dynamic. Dad or Mr incredible represents the father being the man of the house and being the foundation and STRONG for the family. Elasta girl represents moms and the whole family needing her attention so she STRETCHES to be everywhere at the same time and to be available for the family. Also showing how moms can be stretched thin. DASH is very fast, having super speed to show how hyper young boys can be. Violet having ultra VIOLET radiation and showing how young girls are sometimes reserved and shy but grow with confidence. And of course Jack Jack being a representation of all babies, being very unpredictable, not quite having a solid identity yet but having many to show that they can be anything they want when they grow up and also being the JACK of all trades. I do hope you watch the second one. It’s just as amazing. Also the where’s my super suit scene with honey is absolutely iconic never gets old. 😂 If you want to see what happened with Jack Jack and the babysitter check out the short Jack Jack attack.
