I really loved revisiting this film to see if my past opinions of it have changed. I loved all the new characters introduced here and the landscapes in particular were astonishing. Enjoy :)

It's amazing to me all of the things the cast had to do in these movies. You really needed to be in shape to do all of that running and climbing! Good heavens!

2024-07-01 07:08:34 +0000 UTCI see your point and agree. My main beef was with the trendy modern phrasing used, which seemed out of sync with the way the characters usually speak. But it's a small thing overall and doesn't mar the beauty of the interaction between Gandalf and Theoden.

His reply is “no parent should have to bury their child” in other words, “It doesn’t matter matter if this was of my making or not, no parent should ever find themself in this position.” So I guess in that way, it’s not just a blanket statement but rather a logical reply from Theoden as to how he feels about his circumstances.

2024-06-13 21:28:48 +0000 UTC"No parent should have to bury their child." I'm probably the only fan in the universe who isn't gaga for this line. It's too modern, IMO. Even had Theoden King said such a thing, he would have said "No father should have to bury his son" or possibly "his child."

2024-06-13 21:13:23 +0000 UTCFilm wise my favorite movie in the Middle Earth Saga is The Two Towers - there's just somthing about this movie that always draws my attetion, book wise Fellowship of the ring is my favorite - really been enjoying the Tolkien reactions (fun fact my Extended Edition bluray copy of the lord of the rings is autographed by sean austin and elijah wood - sam & frodo, they were both down in Florida for a comic convention and i was able to meet them and get it signed by them). are you planning on any reactions to the Extended Editions of the Hobbit Trilogy or the Rings of Power series on Amazon?

2024-06-10 02:16:41 +0000 UTCGandalf didn't "lose" the battle with the Balrog because he was old. No, no....the Balrog was at the same level as him in the world. A Balrog is a maiar same as Gandalf is, and as we see in this movie, Gandalf eventually kills, and after the Balrog falls after being killed the Balrog's body actually is destroyed as well. Gandalf is so important to the world at that time, that Eru Illuvatar the god of the world in Middle Earth sent him back at a higher level "the white" to battle on. Gandalf was never meant to use his "magic" to save the world he was meant to lead, and to inspire the races of Earth to defeat the ring, and Sauron. Andy Serkis as an actor is the absolute GOAT for his work portraying Gollum!!!! No, Pippin doesn't become an Ent. Although it is true that both Pippin, and Merry gain physical height from drinking the water at Treebeard's home. (both in the book, and in the movie). The dead marshes were preserving bodies of a massive graveyard of the battle of Dagorlad in the first age. The marshes had overtaken the nearby burial area. They created spirits of the dead haunting the marshes due to the bodies. The ring wraiths are connected to the ring itself, because they were created by the Nine rings of power that Sauron gave to men, so they are bound to the "one" ring. They do not go "away" until the ring is destroyed in the lava of Mount Doom. Most people do not know that the term "wraith" is a sort of cousin to a "ghost". but a "wraith" is neither living nor dead...they exist in our world, and the world of the dead like on the edge of both. The ring wraiths actions, and ability to interact with our world is assisted by their cloaks, armor, and such. The Entwives per the Silmarillion I believe fell in love with different things than the Ents...the Ents of course love trees and the forests. The Entwives fell in love with things like other types of trees, and bushes, etc. And the Entwives wandered the world leaving the Ents behind in their wonderings in the world. That is the gist of it. I don't remember how it was portrayed in the books, but in the movie there are way too many meaningful looks and slo-mo-moments between him and Eowyn not to wonder about it. I think that Aragorn was attracted to Eowyn's bravery and inherent goodness. Having seen so much in his long life, he was not easily impressed, but she surprised him and in a good way. That being said, his heart was firmly committed to Arwen and I never felt, even when they seemed to be "breaking up," that either of them would betray the other. That's my opinion on it so far, anyway.

2024-06-08 16:23:30 +0000 UTCYeah I don't think the soldiers of Rohan when Gandalf and crew first arrived really put in as much effort to stop them as they could have. Wormtongue tells them he told them to take his staff, so he could've pushed back on the "walking stick" more than he did. And when the others are fighting them off as Gandalf works his magic, I definitely feel they could have come with more force, even though Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are all the GOAT. They had to put up a little fight because it's literally their job, but I think they knew that Gandalf was there to help and they wanted to see their king healed

Setting people against each other has ever been the way of wicked beings throughout the ages. I like everything about the clothing and armor of Rohan. The horse theme is designed so well, to project great strength and nobility.

What actually happened to the Entwives was something Tolkien wanted to keep a mystery, but in one of his letters, he wrote that he believed that the Entwives were wiped out by Sauron as collateral damage during the War of the Last Alliance. While some could have survived, those that did likely either fled east or became enslaved by tyrants for economical and agricultural purposes.”
