So good I watched it through with you twice (with several weeks in between haha). I feel like old rose threw the diamond away because she didn't want her family to have the wealth she once had, how it corrupts it. She valued happiness more than it. I believe this was confirmed in an absolutely terrible alternating ending that everyone hated. Lovejoy, the valet... at the breakup moment has blood all over his face. Again, a deleted scene where he fought Jack that was removed after audience testing. It can be seen on youtube. I very much believe she died at the end. Cameron says its open to interpretation, but she "died warm in her bed, after having the whole life doing the things she wanted to do", as jack said would happen. If you see the moment after that she returns to the ship in front of everyone to join Jack at the clock. Every single person in that shot died during the sinking, its like she was being welcomed back.

Two stuntmen attempted a scenario where Rose and Jack both get on the door. It sank a few centimetres while it floated when Rose is on it alone. Despite this, it was proven that Jack could have fit and therefore survived. They also did an experiment on an episode of Mythbusters and came to the same conclusion, especially if they figured out how to attach Rose's life jacket under it. Also, I never understood why he didn't try to go on the other side 'cause it would've balanced out their weight. But there are so many variables and things you have to take into account, like the cold, the exhaustion and the shock. James admitted he probably should have made the door smaller, but at the end of the day, Jack died because the script said so. An investigation showed that if Titanic had hit the iceberg head-on, only the first 3-4 compartments would have been flooded, and the ship most likely would've still been able to float. The scenes set in 1912 have a total length of 2 hours and 40 minutes, the exact time it took for Titanic to sink. Also, the collision with the iceberg reportedly lasted 37 seconds, which is how long the collision scene is in the movie. The footage of the Titanic underwater is real as James Cameron himself dived to see the wreckage. He actually spent more time on the ship than the actual passengers. The hands seen drawing Rose are James Cameron's. Also, when Jack is preparing to draw Rose, he says "On the bed... the couch." The line was scripted "Lie on that couch," but Leo made an honest mistake and Cameron liked it so much he kept it in. A lot was improvised by Kate and Leo at James Cameron's request. Like when Rose meets Jack to thank him for saving her life and the spitting scene. Kate also came up with "This is where we first met", as well as suggesting Rose spit in Cal's face rather than jab him with a hairpin (as originally scripted). The chef we see drinking from a flask next to Jack and Rose while the ship was sinking is based on Charles John Joughin, an English-American chef who is notable for surviving in the freezing water for two hours. It's a popular theory that he didn’t feel the effects of the cold water as much because of the consumed alcohol. Though large quantities of alcohol generally increase the risk of hypothermia, there is also evidence to suggest that a certain level of alcohol can slow down heat loss and prolong survival in cold conditions. The elderly couple seen hugging on the bed while water floods their room were the owners of Macy's department store in New York, Ida and Isidor Straus, both of whom died on the Titanic. Ida was offered a seat on a lifeboat but refused so that she could stay with her husband, saying, "As we have lived together, so we shall die together." There was a scene of that filmed but was cut from the final version. It was Mrs Straus who originally said "Where you go, I go" that inspired Rose's same line in the film. Lew Palter, the actor who portrayed Isidor, died in May. Also, Wendy Rush, the wife of Stockton Rush, the OceanGate CEO and pilot of the Titan submersible, is the great-great-granddaughter of the Straus's. Crazy right? Lastly, Billy Zane should have been nominated and won an Oscar for playing one of the most disgusting characters on film. Kate Winslet was nominated for Best Actress and Gloria Stuart (old Rose) for Best Supporting Actress. Leo wasn't nominated. But it is still one of the most awarded films at the Oscars with 11 wins.
