I never liked the idea of 'what you like in fiction, you'd like in reality.' It is something I feel that, while understandable, could still be looked further into on why that is a silly thing to say.

2024-07-25 18:51:11 +0000 UTCI think that a lot these people who believe that your fantasies are your reality, are those who live vanilla sex lives, which there is nothing wrong with that, obviously. Personally, I think I'm pretty vanilla outside of all this. But those who live in the vanilla lifestyle are pretty content with their sex life and don't need much to fantasize about other than what they already have. So their fantasies may indeed be their reality. With that mindset, I think it can be understandable how people may think that such 'out there' erotica can be someone's life style and in turn be a degenerate or even dangerous. A prime example is CNC. Weirdly, this all kind of reminds me of the whole "Video games lead to violence" argument of the early 2000s.

By its very nature, erotica is a fantasy that is experienced in the imagination, and while we may take some aspects into real life to try them out, or live out a fantasy if you will, generally speaking that's not the intention. At least that's what I think 🤔 but of course, there will always be small minded people who are unable to accept that others can separate their reality from their fantasies. Keep offering conversations like these Nightly, it's a lovely diversion in thinking ❤
