Speaking of Golden Girls. In the 4th Incubus video, did you do that on purpose where one of the GG says something about things not turning out the way you want, or something to that affect and then how it ended. Which was like 😲😭

Another one I thought of this morning is "The boys in the boat" directed by George Clooney. It's been a bit under the radar, I feel, but I loved it! I'll definitely look up Lighthouse, thank you! Also: of course 😊

I appreciate the way you look at things :) Shawshank Redemption is so good of a movie. I think a lot of Stephen King's work is a nice mellow.

You are not boring. You are experiencing what I call 'blood, guts, gore and insane senseless violence overload'. One of my favourite movie is Shawshank Redemption because so much happens but in a calm, everyday environment, with people living their lives. I love your rambles and thoughts. You give us a glimpse into your thoughts and I see that as a privilege. So, keep doing it please, and we'll keep adding our little bits as well. ❤

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and recommending me stuff :) I've seen Modern Family with my mom and it's a pretty decent watch! A movie that came to mind while reading was Breakfast Club. And Call Me By Your Name has definitely been recommended now and again. Oh! And Lighthouse was an interesting 'horror.' I loved that movie. Filmed in the old aspect ratios with classic movie cameras and in black and white. I've found plenty of free movies people have uploaded from the 50s+. But all and all, I'm glad you could understand the ramblings of a dweeb who just woke up and wanted to rant! lol

Oh wow, this was such a great piece of late night entertainment (so no, I don't think you're boring). 😂 I get a lot of what you're saying, so maybe I'm an old woman too. 😉 A lot of these high-stake-movies just get overwhelming to me. Sometimes they can be a fun night, sure. But often enough there's not much care put into the story for the sake of some grand design. It's all about the bling and the glamour and the loudness of it all instead. Basically along the lines of your point: everything needs to be extreme now. Remember when a scary movie was a guy in a mask on a phone? And dear god did that scare me as a young teen, seeing just that phonecall scene, late at night, when technically I shouldn't have been up watching TV. 😂 Nowadays I can't stomach horror and definitely nothing gory. Probably because the shift to the extreme made me shift to the opposite in response, trying to protect myself. And aside from the ever climbing spiral of movie makers trying to outdo each other with things that'll "cause" a viral sensation for people to talk about, the media to talk about, not many of the hyped up movies seem authentic to me. There's a reason for all these AI writing discussions and strikes. So much of it seems to just end up being about minimising costs and maximising profits. Oh and I love the point about how death should have a reason, or a purpose in the story btw.! Anyway (this is getting too long already but you've hit a lot of points so maybe you weren't hoping for a short answer, and if you were, I'm sorry to disappoint 😂) I don't think all new movies are in that meh-category obviously. There's still people who make movies that take more time, that don't follow the trend of cutting to a new shot every 3 seconds, that can take a moment to breathe within a scene. It's just a little less often. So my recommendations, even though these might obviously not be for you at all (or you might've seen them already): one old school thing first, kind of a nod towards your Golden Girls: Murder she wrote. Yes, it's "crime" but let's be real: it's first and foremost about an older lady, an author, absolutely being the queen of crime solving while being absolutely charming. 😂 Then, I liked Elvis a lot. The one with Austin Butler. It's tragic, because Elvis' life was dark at times, but it was very real, I felt. I knew nothing about the man, but it was about his everyday, somehow. I liked the balance between the ordinary and the extraordinary. If romcoms are your thing, there's a couple of great rom coms out there, that are really just easygoing, sweet, about love and some minor conflict and that's it. Even new ones! Princess Switch, or a Christmas Prince or very new: Mother of the Bride (not as charming as the other two, but very easy watch). Feelgood is actually a category or "genre" for Netflix e.g. . Maybe that'll help? Call my by your name was also wonderful. A bit out there at times but the movie took everything very slow.. to a point where I wondered if it was too artsy for me, until I realised I just wasn't used to someone taking their time anymore. Oh and Modern Family is a great show, even though I haven't watched the last season yet, but that's very much everyday life, small conflicts, wonderfully written and often very empathetic and easy to follow. I'm sure there's so much more but they're escaping my mind So, after that novel, as a conclusion: I don't think it's about age, or about you being grumpy. It's about how overwhelmed we already are, about how loud the world is and there is nothing wrong with a little escapism. 💙
