Looking back at Dude/Lad comedies from the aughts almost feels like a fever dream. So many of those films seemed to punish the viewers for bothering to watch, to the point that I genuinely wonder how they still have uncritical fans to this day.

I knew all those pretentious Americans pretending English comedies were nothing but dry humor, literary references, and Monty Python were full of it...I KNEW you English were just smart enough not to export or highlight your lowest common denominator, """""edgy""""""" shit comedy that never actually challenges the mainstream. This felt a lot like that "Movie 43" that came out awhile ago. Starred Stephen Merchant and Halle Berry and the whole joke seemed to be "Look at these A-list celebrities talking about shit, piss, and cum!!!! LOOK AT IT!!!!" for 90 uninterrupted minutes.
