I've seen the comments about how this arc is boring, and fair enough. I am not even going to try to argue about it. I plan to wrap the preliminary rounds in the next two chapters before moving on.

No fault on your side here, it's apparently necessary in this fic's storyline (fair enough), but it really is an obnoxious trope. And the one in Naruto is especially egregiously stupid. Literally everything about the portrayed shinobi world logically just screams that carrying out exams with this "international competition" formula is moronic and counter productive. Imagine all the real world's countries organizing a "world military festival" where their armies showcase (in detail!) their latest technologies and equipment. Complete with actual children shooting at each other using said equipment, for everyone's entertainment.
