Last few weeks, I've been doing my coding job with some tight deadlines, but was also expected to do First-line IT support, which I have no idea about while learning about the support stuff but also hitting the tight deadlines. Been doing evenings and weekends for months now to keep up, but once the clients bailed, apparently I haven't learned enough to retain for support. I'm just going to take some time for a few weeks. I've been doing a bunch more animating the past few days, and I think I'll go and do a little travelling in a while. I could probably get interviews, but at the moment I can't be bothered with places that demand 4 interviews and all the other hoops you have to jump through for the honour of getting underpaid and unappreciated in another company.

2021-05-07 16:10:46 +0000 UTCAw shit, I'm sorry to hear that. Free time is a silver lining, but applying for new jobs can be a full-time gig in itself. Without knowing the specifics, things usually don't get that bad in a vacuum. My upper management frequently asks for things that have impossible specs, require more people than we have, or just aren't our department. If my boss didn't push back on the crazy stuff, we'd look like we suck too. On the hopeful note, there should be a demand for people as economies get going again. Seems like every day there's a story on NPR about companies with tons of openings being unfilled. Best of luck, you're definitely dedicated enough to find someplace/something new!
