Non-fiction suggestions?

Hey fronds, Grace here! Got any non-fiction book suggestions for us to read this month? Looking for something a little lighter than our previous read, but open to whatever comes to mind! Lemme know!

Quietly Hostile by Samantha Irby

Anything by Doris Kearns Goodwin 🤪

Why fish don’t exist by lulu Miller!

I’m not a Star Wars/OG Carrie Fisher fan (I’ve only watched the original just for the *experience* and to say I did) and I LOVED wishful drinking. I laughed out loud so many times and I’m not an LOL-type of girly when I’m reading solo.

AWE, by Dacher Keltner

Lillian Carilo

Bossypants is SO GOOD and Tina narrates the audiobook wonderfully ❤️

Anything by Chuck Klosterman. I particularly like his earlier books. Always a big fan of Amy Poehler's "Yes Please." Tina Fey's "Bossypants."

The Will to Change , Bell Hooks

John Paulsen

It’s a little long but timely

John Paulsen

The Empathetic Civilization, the race to Global Consciousness in a World in Crises by Jeremy Rifkin

John Paulsen

I second the Braiding Sweetgrass & Book of Hope recommendations above! So many of these mentioned above sound great too. From my own TBR: The Book of Joy, How To Be Perfect by Michael Schur (creator of the good place), one of Brene Brown’s books… Or for a more nature theme read, heard great things about: 🍄Entangled Life: how fungi make our worlds, change our minds & shape our futures by Merlin Sheldrake (<-what a cool fucking name!) 🌱 The Botany of Desire: a plant’s eye view of the world or This is your mind on plants, both by Michael Pollan

Carrie Fisher Wishful Drinking

I love that multiple people suggested The Anthropocene Reviewed - such a good book 😍

Fun Home by Alison Bechtel

For the Love Of Men by Liz Plank I want to be where the normal ppl are by Rachel Bloom

Same! Everyone that's read it swears it's the best thing they've read or insists I have to read it. I've also heard it's really funny despite the title.

Have heard incredible things abt this one

Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall is one of my favorite nonfiction books! she’s an indigenous environmental biologist and it’s in part her memoir but also a tool to remind us about our humanity/connection and relationship to plants and Earth. it’s a really amazing book that helps put our lives into a much wider perspective of what role we play into the betterment of society 🫶🏻

Untamed by Glennon Doyle!

Soul Boom by Rainn Wilson

I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jeanette McCurdy

Too much, Tom allen. Th final girl support group, Grady Hendrix. The guncle.

Anything Nora Ephron or Jenny Lawson is a good time, too.

The Anthropocene Reviewed is excellent. For something funnier you could choose any of Samantha Irby's books. She has a new one out..Quietly Hostile.

Fox and I by Catherine Raven, Pandora’s Jar by Natalie Haynes, or Once Upon a Tome by Oliver Darkshire!

Drug Use for Grown Ups by Dr. Carl Hart!
