Whoo... it is done :)
I went for a different ending than I originally had in mind, but I'm happy with how it turned out...
So yeah, I put a part in the video about going full time. I didn't want to put it in there, in fact I really hated it, but in the end I think I should sometimes do one of those call-to-action type of things if I'm going to rely on this (not in ALL videos though). A big thanks to all of you here already, who decided to support me making videos all by yourself. It means the world to me. In fact, I had considered to go full time earlier, but despite the job being minimum wage, it was just too good to let go: it was 100% work from home (which is important to me as I move around a lot), and I managed to automate a part of the most repetitive parts. This didn't neccesarily mean the work would go faster, but I could kinda work on 2 things at the same time, some of the time. Anyway, now that THEY made the desicion, I find myself not fighting it too hard... so from mid december this will be my full time gig (at least my direct boss, which is a decent person despite the corporation being as corporate as can be, gave me the news over 3 months in advance, which is nice), and I will be able to work on videos a lot more efficient without the need to juggle stuff around as much.
I'm not sure yet how I will use the extra time. It was kinda nice to be able to balance the day job and the video editing around, I could work on stuff literally all day long, I'm talking some back to back 16 hour days working without burning myself out on either activity. So, it's probably a bad idea to just double down on straight main-series-style video editing, both because of the above mentioned burnout risk, as well as that it requires some level of creativity and inspiration which not always can be summoned at will. Again, I'm thinking about any or all of the following, like adding a weekly livestream moment (which should be easier to setup now, and I've had some "offline stream" practice with the warptorio sessions now), and keep doing sideprojects in some form (anywhere between the unedited form of warptorio and the like 8:1 editing-to-video-runtime ratio of the pre-rocket part of the 100% evolution side project (whereas the main project editing style is more like a 60:1 editing to video-runtime effort). Also video style like ilmango (or the lesser-edited-parts-of-zisteau) comes to mind, where large skips in the footage are stitched together with "live-talked" updates in key moments, allowing the viewer to be able to follow basically everything without having to accompany me on the entire grind. Those would move along faster than the "full run 100% evolution side project style", and with an estimated similar 8:1 work-to-video-playtime factor, they'd probably be a good fit for a light-to-medium modded playthrough Like Krastorio2 or Space Exploration. To complete the comparison, The fully unedited warptorio run was more like a 1,3:1 (which is 1:1 playing the game obviously, and the remaining 0,3:1 for things like editing the runs together, making the chapters, and all the other "administrative tasks" which are part of the process between playing and you having a link to click on. I didn't count the opening strategy development though (then it'd be about 3:1 I guess), and neither the unattended overnight video exports+uploads in the work equation, as I'm sleeping ;) ).
Anyway, I'm not sure I want to go full livestream just yet, but I wouldn't mind being more interactive with all of you. Perhaps I can retry streaming on twitch and do some patreon-only-livestreams (+whoever happens to stumble in). Since I have no real following on twitch (and haven't "advertised/told anyone on youtube" that I may be streaming there), it will be a lot more free/relaxed as opposed to the "having to do successful streams or it might affect my channel/the algorithm"-thing on my youtube channel. So yeah. A lot to ponder over. Let me know what type/style YOU would like to see more of, keeping in mind the ratio of "work needed" to "watchable video minutes" which would suit you best!
Anyway, enjoy the FINAL FINALE of the 100% evolution series :)
