RR Subway illustration: WIP #2

Sorry for the lack of posts over the past few days! I've been editing the earliest pages of the softball graphic novel, which has been difficult because they are VERY out of style at this point! Today I took a little break and kept puttering away at this subway-ish illustration.

As a reminder, this is where I started:

I tried to go super heavy on the inks at first:

But then I couldn't quite rectify the scratchy inks with the color scheme I was trying to figure out? So far, with my limited practice, it seems like super scratchy inking works best with grayscale or monochrome color. Maybe I'll figure it out someday? In any case, I eventually ran back to full color with my tail tucked between my legs x'U. I definitely liked the look of the first WIP and I hope to come back to something like that, maybe in another illustration?

The full-colored WIP is still EXTREMELY WIP, so I expect it to change quite a lot before I'm done. Also I have to draw the guys!!! WHOOPS!!
