Original Characters or Fan Characters?

Got another poll for you. I'm considering branching out of only making scenes and characters of specifically my own creation.
I'm very attached to my original content, as all creators tend to be at times, but I sometimes find myself thinking "it would be fun to animate (X) character from (Y) show"
It'd also be fun to open it up to OC's from other people (maybe yours?)
I'd like to hear your thoughts on it, as well as I opened a poll for those who just wanna hit a button.
