Alright! Finally closing the lid on this project!
I like how the animation came out and as far as complexity is concerned it's definitely my most complex yet.
I've also learnt a LOT of lessons.
Some include
- For the love of god plan ahead. I just winged this animation like I usually do, making it up as I go. But the longer it gets the better off you are planning. Next time I put together something longer than a few seconds I think I'll draw a storyboard out to plan scenes, camera positions and timings ahead of time. Doesn't need to be complex, even just a bunch of stick-characters to plot it out. just a guideline I can refer too.
- Without a guideline I ended up basically wasting time trying out poses and positions to see what worked. almost 70% of the effort I put into this animation never MADE it into the animation due to me scrapping the idea and starting again or just tinkering around for a while.
- Kind of goes with planning ahead, but learn to time better. I feel like each scene could of stuck around for a second or two longer before I shifted the camera or pose.
- Audio is it's own beast. Turns out Video-Export can't record audio and OBS picks up all the engine-lag. Meaning If I want to add audio to the scene I'll need to learn how to do audio in post. While I didn't try it, a plan I have for the future is to record with both Video-Export AND OBS, then extract the audio from OBS and try to line it up with the video-export file in post.
But, despite my "complaints" I really like how it turned out and it was fun to work on. I think with more planning I could focus enough to make something substantial. Maybe I should open to requests so I don't have to think too much about what I make?
Regardless, enjoy, this animation took almost a week to throw together, which really isn't that long but compared to my usual loop-a-day it's the longest I've gone between animations. It was fun, and more importantly, educational, to go out of my comfort zone to tackle something I wasn't used too.
