June 2021 - Wrap Up

We finally have a date to record the first Orchestra Discovery Session! On September 9th we will be recording a woodwind quintet in Smecky Studios Prague, consisting of the top players (and section leaders of the large orchestras) in Prague. I'm really happy that we finally can get started on this and hope that the Delta variant will behave until then.

You all will be taking part in the creation of the pieces of the five participants and me in the coming weeks and months so every patron should hopefully take something from this.

In other news, I got a new DAW after my old one has served me well for more than seven years. It now got demoted to a VE Pro Slave but I don't think I will be needing it anytime soon to help out the new machine. I will write a dedicated post about the hardware specs and my experiences in the future. But the great thing is that I now can also screen capture large sessions without the CPU starting to fry so this should make things easier for composition and production screencasts!

Also, as I promised a few months ago I was documenting some work on a 3 minute commercial so you will soon see a screencast with actual work to picture!

The Poll of the Week series that I started a month ago has brought up some very interesting results about the patrons here. Considering the majority results, the average patron on here is a professional composer/musician with a university degree in music/composition who creates their music in a dedicated studio/room in their home, who has already recorded with a professional orchestra and has been composing music for at least 10 years. So by these values, most of you are just like me :)

I was already slightly aware of this but it is really humbling to see so many seasoned professionals on here, what an extraordinary community!

The Discord server for this Patreon that I also launched last month has seen some nice growth and discussions already and it's great to connect to you guys on a more direct path. If you haven't connected your Patreon account to Discord yet and would like to try it out and join the fun, here's a tutorial on how to do this.

Lastly, the slight reduction of post frequency with hard to digest content works really well in my opinion. Personally for me, I like that I can take more time to research or talk about a topic and am not forced to throw out a new post every other day. And with the new poll of the week and some other small posts, there is some content that is more "fun" and easier to digest.

As usual thank you for being my patron, I really appreciate your support and it is great that we're still slowly but steadily growing. As usual, if you have any comment, critizism or would like me to cover a specific topic don't hesitate to contact me or comment below.
