we have some not so cool news to share with you.
You will get a message from the Patreon team on the 1st of June as well, but I wanted to give you a heads up on some incoming changes. Patreon is being required by law to start adding sales tax to more Patron pledges starting July 1st.
This kinda sucks because, it adds yet another deduction from your pledge to projects you want to support. Sometimes, between taxes, transfer fees, currency conversions fees and so on and on, it feels like too big of a chunk of the budget that you guys would like to dedicate to a specific project is being eaten away by various entities.
Now don't get me wrong, Patreon is surely one of the best platforms worldwide to support creators as well as to get your money's worth as a supporter and the Patreon team does a pretty decent job in trying to protect both creators and Patrons.
On the bright side, Patreon has put forward a new sales tax settings system that allows creators to properly setup for these changes. We have already gone through the setting process to the best of our abilities to minimize the impact of these taxes on your pledges.
Anyway, it is what it is, the difference will be minimal and we remain positive so you mustn't worry. I just wanted to let you know about this news before it goes public.
