America had concentration camps too, as did the British, they went under other names like Japanese Internment camps, and National security camps, but they were essentially the same thing. It's the Death camps that some became under the Nazis that started as concentration camps that led to the name being associated with systematic mass killing. In war every side acts with fear, barbarism and dehumanisation directed at the enemy, it makes killing them easier. It's just the extremes that get noted and the rest is just considered part of war. The SAS is a very interesting Rabbit Hole to go down. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
