This show came about because Brendan Hunt, who plays Coach Beard, and Jason Sudekis made TV commercials/skits for NBC about an American coaching soccer. It was to get people interested in the World Cup. When you watch them you will see a lot of the jokes that get used in the show during the bits.

Near the end of the 1st year of lockdown, I noticed I was getting close to the end of a free Apple TV subscription from a hardware purchase, so I binge watched the first season. I was then totally hooked for the next two seasons. The writing and acting are sublime. An other great very UK show on Apple is Slow Horses; I'd already read all the books it adapts, and the show is very faithful to the text.
