Doctor Who Fear Her

Alan, Doctor Who was never a kid’s show! Even back in 1963, the BBC had different programming departments (which still haven’t changed) - departments for light entertainment, comedy, kids, nature, news and drama. Doctor Who was always made by the BBC’s drama department. If you want to call it anything, call it a family show, where anyone from 5 to 95 can watch it! Yes, back in 1963 the historical stories was originally aimed at a portion of the audience (teenagers), as a means to help educate them about history, but within three years these purely historical stories were fazed out in favour of the sci-fi elements which carried on until the show was cancelled in 1989. Between 1966 and 1989 there was the occasional historical story made, but these usually carried some kind of alien threat within the storyline to keep it within its sci-fi remit. Now, NuWho has continued that tradition of having historical stories made (with sci-fi elements in them), and I think you’re going to love the ones coming up in the next few seasons!

Another great reaction as you may have already guessed its a double episode season finale hold on to your hat for the opening scene believe me, as we say over here it will grab you by the short and curlies, thanks again.

Glad you liked this episode, it was not one of my favourites of the series, but if you liked this I think you are going to love what's coming up. I grew up with classic Who, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker & Peter Davidson were my Dr's, and classic Who in those days was a little different. It was known as a 'behind the sofa' show. It was for kids. but it always sought to stretch what a kid would accept, so it wasn't the sort of show you would watch on the sofa, but as a kid sort of peeking out from behind it through the fingers of your hands over your eyes. Not terrifying, but enough to make a child see newer and sometimes darker realities. New Who these days has to compete with a far greater selection of shows in a similar vein, but I think it still holds the same fascination to any open mind. Not like anything you expect.
