My ex husband was a tattoo artist in North Carolina and worked next to Kerry Lawing a really well known and educated tattoo artist from Fayetteville. He taught him this trick that if you take a paper towel and soak it in as hot of water you can handle DO NOT scald yourself, but… hot. Place it over your fresh tattoo for the first 3-4 days often before you moisturize it, it won’t scab. It hurts like a motherf for a few seconds like you are taking a hot shower with a terrible sunburn but for tattoo artists that specialize in color, this is a healing technique they advise to not lose color with scabbing.
