As you can see the boys had limited budget on food and they were not technically allowed to use their own money to buy food. After this rather pitiful episode where they had to split a sandwich and share a drink, the boys had a discussion and they decided to have Jin speak to the managers on their behalf about giving them more money for food. This was revealed in one of their Memories episodes.
