Assassination Rogue-Gamebreaking Build Doing Hundreds Of Millions Of Damage In Seconds (Long)

So I found this video hidden on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvAT_eK8oUg in which an assassination rogue manages to solo kill the Alliance boss of Ashran in 21 seconds, doing hundreds of millions of damage.

The rogue does not explain exactly how to do it or give his build so I had to reverse-engineer it. This took several days and a lot of trial and error, but my results are now close enough to the results shown in the original video for most practical purposes. After some practice I was also able to do hundreds of millions in dps to both faction's bosses in Ashran, but as we'll see the strategy can be used anywhere.

As I developed it I began to understand that it revealed a fundamentally broken interaction between your deathmark target and surrounding hostile npc's that is also applicable to PVE such as raiding and mythic plus. It can also do very high damage in pvp against large numbers of human players but is harder to pull off there.

To make it very easy to execute I developed the following macro and castsequence:

(this is for Ashran specifically but it can be amended fairly easily for other situations)

This macro should be cast before entering combat:

/use Thistle Tea

/use Saltwater Potion

/use star root tuber

/cast wrynn's vanguard battle standard

/cast cloak of shadows

/cast smoke bomb

/use 13

/use 14

/cast berserking

(replace berserking with any appropriate racial ability for your class)

If you don't have any of these items the macro will ignore them-if you want to kill the boss in ashran I would strongly recommend acquiring the ashran specific items star root tuber, wrynn's vanguard battle standard.

To execute the strategy use the following castsequence macro:

IMPORTANT EDIT: YOU MUST BE IN STEALTH FOR THE MACRO TO WORK

/castsequence reset=combat/target Garrote, Rupture, Ambush, Deathmark, Crimson Tempest, Shiv, Shiv, Fan of Knives, Crimson Tempest.

That's it. Target the boss and move into range, press the macro and then keep spamming the key you assigned to your cast sequence. (You may wish to use defensives like crimson vial manually while doing this)

I thought at first this might be limited to Ashran because of the specific pvp items used in the video but it turns out the most powerful aspect of the approach is the interaction between deathstalker's mark, singular focus, deathmark, arterial precision and indiscriminate carnage.

Put simply: you do a lot of damage to your target and spread this to nearby pc's, which does a lot of damage to them, which is then returned to your original target. This doesn't seem intended, it is a sort of (semi) infinite loop and in certain situations will be gamebreaking. Theorycrafters note: There may well be other broken interactions like this for other classes.
