Simple Method To Bypass XP Debuff (In-World Group)
Added 2025-10-04 20:20:48 +0000 UTCThis method allows you to level up a character by boosting very quickly. You do not need a second account to do this-a free starter edition account can be used to create the boost character. *
Normally when grouped with a player who has locked experience the grouped player will receive an xp debuff of their own. This is to prevent characters you wish to level from being boosted by low-level characters whose damage scales up absurdly.
To get around this simply active lorewalking with Lorewalker Cho at your faction capital or in Dornogal, and use the exit button. Then whenever you are grouped with a low-level player whose experience has been locked, use the "ask a question" option. The character you want to level will be phased out and lose the xp debuff, but will gain full xp from any kills from the low-level player.
Note this is the only way to level up to 80 by boosting in the old world. In lorewalking mode everything scales to your level, even mobs in the starting areas.
*To get the 10 gold necessary to lock xp on a free starter edition account character the fastest method I have found is to run stockades or ragefire chasm solo. This is not that difficult with heirlooms and level 10 scaling.

2025-10-07 19:59:36 +0000 UTCI might just be stupid but I can't get it leave the selected story without getting the XP debuff back. Any way you could clarify the instructions?

2025-10-07 17:36:20 +0000 UTCI've been using it on the goblin that spawns 3 bodyguards at the dock in the hut in the sw of elwynn forest. That's probably not the best location though, I was doing that mainly to see if I could level up afk.

2025-10-05 00:46:36 +0000 UTCA lot more people have 10-11 twinks than level 20 twinks, and level 20 twinks are not as efficient. You could absolutely do open world boosting with a level 20, but this is another one of those posts that provides a different avenue for the same destination.

2025-10-04 22:33:17 +0000 UTCI'm trying to understand why you would do this. So if you have a trial account, it caps at level 20 allowing you to twink without ever turning XP off. Meaning you wouldn't need to t urn off XP to pair with a higher level, right? So what would this accomplish?
