v0.12.0 - Going in Circles

You didn't ask for it, but you're getting it anyway.

Like much of the site, this is a classic case of me building something for my own use as a DM. I like the idea of visualizing the distinctive circles my wizard player learns, and I really like being able to keep track of them as well.

So, all users now can now generate (and right-click to download) arcane circles for the Teleportation Circle spell (or the Magic Circle spell, if you're fancy).

Keepers, though... You're getting something special.

You can now not only generate these circles, but you can save them, connect them to one of your existing Locations (yes, the same locations you can set for your shops), and mark them as "known" (i.e. do your PCs know about them [and therefore, can they seem them on location pages]?).

Plus, Keepers have a fancy print tool that lets them change the foreground/background color, just for grins.

I think this feature will see more love down the line (I'd really like to have a more convenient download option, but I'm not convinced people will use it, and I'm pretty convinced I won't.

A few other bugfixes are included in this release. If you run into any issues, or you see an already-reported bug still in place, send me a message.

Thanks, everyone. And enjoy!

v0.12.0 - Going in Circles

Comments

For the record, the prices we show by default are largely based on Saidoro's list (see the footer or the site's FAQ for links). Their approach largely ignores the DMG recommendation based on rarity, and for his reason (it's purely arbitrary). Instead, it goes by value in an economy driven by adventurers, magic, component costs, and the like. As for the weapons of Warning, it's a common question. I had it, too. But uncommon or not, what kind of price could a shopkeeper set on something that would literally mean a dramatic and constant life-or-death difference for any adventurer, merchant, caravan driver, etc.? In that light, those things make a huge difference. That said, if Keepers don't agree with a given item's base price, we always allow them to override it. :)

Hey, I'm not sure if I am crazy, but why are Uncommon Weapons of Warning coming up as over 60,000 GP?

Shane Thrapp

That's exactly what it does. The benefit is that it makes things a lot more variable. The downside is that if you ever change the name, you've changed the geometry.

Is it just me or does it actually use the name to seed generation? If so, that is so beautifully elegant... Fantastic work! Will definitely be using this!
