"Charle the Unicorn LIVE!" Behind the Scenes...
Added 2016-03-01 03:58:54 +0000 UTCYou may have seen one of the "Charlie the Unicorn" live streams I've been doing to promote the Kickstarter, where Charlie himself answers questions from viewers live. A few people seem to think it's pre-recorded, which I guess means I've done a pretty good job setting it up!
For anyone wondering, the way I'm doing these streams is with a "puppet" I've programmed using GameMaker Studio. I've basically created a small scene that I can animate live using my keyboard. I've uploaded an HTML5 version of the program for you to check out yourself if you're interested:

It's... not very user friendly. There are a lot of controls and it takes a while to get your head around it. Also, the music and forest sounds you hear during the stream are played through a separate application, so you won't hear it here.
You need a full-sized keyboard (one with a number pad) to get this to actually work. Also, I'm having trouble getting the number pad keys to work in Chrome, but it seems to work in Firefox? Not sure what that's about.
Anyway, here is the full list of key commands:

:O I figured there would be a lot of controls. couldn't wrap my head around how you did mouth movement, eyebrow, and pupil all at once! Thought it was something similar to what Rob did with URealms as well! I hope you continue to do these types of livestreams every now and then, even though it was an hour of not much happening during the oscars, it was so entertaining regardless!
