Extending pause, little updates, DC stuff

Hi everyone!

I'm going to extend the pause again on payments here for another month when it comes up. My expectation is that it will be the last extension, and then I'll start posting some more stuff on here.

In the interim, I've been doing a lot of editing for Bottle Blondes. I know the general trend of web serial to print copy editing is that the work gets longer (extra content, extra worth it to buy), but I've been mostly making little cuts (scalpel, not axe). The consequence of writing from the hip is that I sorta didn't have the shape of the story the whole time, and I'd like to be able to get it smoother. It will still likely have new scenes, but they'll be slightly outweighed by the bits I trim. I'll leave up the original version too, ofc. But the print copy might be a tiny bit slimmer.

As I said, I expect to be back to taking payments in a month. I've been writing a fun little mystery gender novella sort thing this month (think Priest's The Prestige meets Spells R Us), but it's not something I'm quite comfortable charging anyone for (at least not at the moment). Mostly just for fun. And proper eggfic and romance plans return in the fall.

I've also been a little busy outside of writing. I live in DC, and the last two weeks have been spent very much trying to do what I can to help my neighbors. There has been ICE outside my apartment building, and there have been soldiers at my grocery store, and there have been humvees outside my Metro stop. Because I am white, I have not been personally harassed or arrested, but the crackdown has been complete and evil. Anecdotally, homeless people in my neighborhood have never been in positions as precarious as they are right now. Local police are now collaborating directly with ICE. They are doing document checks of people walking down the street. The only cause is skin color.

To that end, if you're so inclined, I'm going to drop the links of a few mutual aid and legal resources for the unhoused/migrants that you could donate to. DC is... well, our city government has always been fairly unsupportive of homeless folks, so there have been outside resources to help for a while now. Similar case with migrants. Now, of course, those resources are stretched even further. It would mean a lot to me if you took the money you intended to give me these last couple of months and picked one of these (or your own local mutual aid groups!) and gave it to them. I love DC with my whole heart. It is my city. The people who live here deserve any support anyone can give them.
