At this time, I thought it would be wise to outline the development work to be undertaken over the next year. As most of you are aware, Callisto is coming to a close and will be complete at version 1.0. Version 0.9 will be released in mid January and then it's just a matter of wrapping up the content, with the final encounter and epilogues. Whilst I haven't done the detailed outline for v1.0, I am expecting development time to be slightly higher than last two releases, due to higher image complexity. Thus the current forecast for Callisto completion is mid April.
I will not be going silently into the abyss and I have already begun planning the next game to be created by Xavster Gaming. It will be in the sci-fi genre, however rather than your home being a ship, your base will be an asteroid at a partially active stargate nexus in the Orion sector. As you progress, you will not only be able to upgrade your asteroid, but also unlock stargates to allow exploration of other locations.
At this juncture, I suspect you may be somewhat puzzled, by the location of an asteroid as your home location. It essentially acts as a blank slate, which allows far greater freedom for you the player and also me as the developer. It also allows a larger range of assets to be used, as I am not restricted by having to fit rooms / upgrades into a specific defined framework. Hopefully everyone's asteroid will be unique to them.
Development on the next game will commence following the release of v0.90. This will be restricted to 1 day per week and confined to game outline and character design. The remaining 4 days per week will be dedicated to completing the existing game Callisto. This will allow sufficient time for feedback, such that I can hit the ground running on the next game, following the completion of Callisto.
I intend to engage the Patreon community in the design of all the main characters and key gameplay elements. Polls will be open to $5 and $10 Patreons, however anyone is welcome to provide feedback on Discord. With the intended development path, there will only be a few central characters in the initial release and a couple locations. This will grow with each release and the community will be involved in each additional character / feature added to the game.
At this point, I do not know how long it will take to complete the first release of the new game. I would rather get the core game design right from the start, hence do not wish to rush the process. In order to keep Patreon members and feedback active, I will pause all Patreon billing from the release of Callisto 1.0 to the first release of the next game. As such, if you are a $5 or $10 Patreon at the final release of Callisto, you will also receive the first release of the next game, at no additional cost. In the meantime, you will see all of the development posts and be able to participate in all of the polls for the next game.

Happy New Year to you, I have throughly enjoyed playing Calisto the story, the crew the ship, it was my first patron funded game and has been worth every penny, and my favourite game for 2021. I am both sad and looking forward to play the game to its completion. If your new game has the same attention to detail and depth of story it is going to be Awesome π―
