Callisto v0.50 - Week 15 Update

Had a particularly successful week developing game content. Focus this week has been on the strip club content and its in game integration. This represented the main coding challenge for this version and I am happy to report, that for the most part things went smoothly. If you take a look at the images below, I will further elaborate on the design.

Each of the dancers have information pages, that allow you to recruit for work in the club. This is accessed via talking to Jill at the club bar. For realism, I have included a time delay from hiring, to when they actually show up in the club.

Once the dancers are available at the club, they can be allocated to the various stages within the club. Hence if you were to have say 5 dancers, you could select your preferred 3 and allocated them to the desired stage.

The above image is the club navigation page to access management and also to view the dancers on the stages. It is highly dynamic with the clients changing depending upon club success. The dancers also have 6 different poses and can be allocated to different stages. You will notice that the image above actually matches the stage allocations in the earlier image. If you do the math the number of current permutations is staggering (132,525).

Each of the stages may be separately viewed with the background matching the club navigation view. Whilst v0.50 will only have stills for the dancers, this will be expanded to animated dance routines in following versions. This change from a coding point of view is actually very easy and similar in nature to the spinning ships during the salvage mini-game. I will also add an extended interface to allow some interaction with the dancers. Eventually I will add in some little events with each of the dancers.

As mentioned last week, I switched my rendering GPU across to rendering stills last week. These have already finished and of yesterday, I switched them back to the lewd animations. I am really happy with some of the main story stills (even without post treatment). The only reason I don't post below, is that they would be rather large spoilers. For the managers out there, the progress update is below.

As far as next week, I have an event related to the strip club to complete, which accounts for the 2 days remaining on item 5. Following this, I will move into various little scenes that will flesh out the content on the ship itself. These are nominally items 2, 3, 6 above. I will leave the completion of the lewd content to just before the beta. By waiting for the lewd animations to finish, I can process them all at once, which is more efficient. It's also easier to code / test when all of the animations are available.
