The Incubus System Chapter 1115. Rebellious Streak

The Incubus System Chapter 1115. Rebellious Streak

Larry was still pale from the absurdity of the situation, but at least he hadn’t passed out yet. That was progress, I guess. I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose as I tried to process everything that had just been thrown at me.

Before I could even think of a snarky comment, Puriel cleared her throat, drawing everyone’s attention. “Oh, right,” she began, her voice hesitant. “Just for your information, the queen also… doesn’t have a good relationship with the king.”

I blinked, tilting my head in confusion. “The light dimension has a king?”

Puriel nodded, clearly bracing herself for the inevitable reaction. “Yes. Their marriage was political. They were united to strengthen the Light Dimension’s leadership, but… they don’t exactly see eye to eye.”

“Define ‘don’t see eye to eye,’” I said, already feeling a headache coming on.

Puriel sighed. “The queen values freedom, compassion, and love. She believes in individuality and choice. But the king… he’s much more rigid. Disciplined. He doesn’t tolerate mistakes, no matter how small. Everything must be done according to the law.”

I raised my hand, trying to hold back my cringe. “So let me get this straight. The Light Dimension has a king and a queen, and you guys are suggesting I—” I paused for emphasis, looking around at everyone in the room before finishing, “—sleep with the king’s wife?”

Lord Damon smirked, leaning back like this was just another Tuesday for him. “You slept with Lilieth. Isn’t that the same?”

My brain short-circuited for a moment. “What? No! That’s completely different!”

Before I could even clarify, Larry spun to face me, his face a mix of shock and horror. “You slept with your own mom?!”

“Yeah, but it’s not what you think!” I said quickly, raising my hands defensively. “That’s just… the succubus way. It’s how they breastfeed their sons. It’s not weird. It’s… cultural.”

Larry stared at me like I’d grown a second head. Then, without another word, he flopped back onto the couch, looking like he’d aged ten years in ten seconds. “I think my brain is short-circuiting.”

“Good,” I muttered, rolling my eyes. “Join the club.” I turned back to Puriel, who was still standing awkwardly, like she wanted to be anywhere else. “And you,” I said, pointing at her, “shouldn’t you be, I don’t know, opposed to this? You’re an angel, for crying out loud! Think about it!”

Puriel cringed, her lips pressing into a tight line. It was the kind of expression that screamed, ‘I really don’t want to answer this, but I don’t have a choice’.

“Oh no,” I said, already dreading whatever she was about to say.

“So… not everyone in the Light Dimension likes how strict the king is,” she began, her voice low and hesitant. “Including the queen. And… me. And also Gabriella.”

The mention of her sister—her dead sister—made all of us silent. My frustration faltered for a moment, replaced by a flicker of sympathy. I didn’t know much about Gabriella, but I knew enough to tread lightly.

“So, what?” I asked, my voice softer now. “You’re saying the queen has, what, a rebellious streak?”

Puriel nodded slowly. “You could say that. She’s always believed in challenging unjust authority, even when it’s… her own husband.”

“And you?” I asked, narrowing my eyes. “Where do you stand in all of this?”

Puriel hesitated again, and for a second, I thought she might brush off the question. But then she sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. “I believed in the queen. Gabriella did too. We thought… maybe things could change.”

Lord Damon chuckled, the sound low and sharp. “So even angels aren’t immune to internal politics. Fascinating.”

Puriel shot him a glare but didn’t respond. I, on the other hand, was struggling to keep my thoughts from spiraling. This was turning into a lot more than I’d bargained for.

“So let me get this straight,” I said, rubbing my temples. “The queen of the Light Dimension is basically at odds with her own husband. You want me to somehow convince her to help us, which might involve… bonding with her. All while hoping the king doesn’t find out and murder me on the spot. Did I miss anything?”

Lilieth gave me a sympathetic look. “When you put it like that, it does sound daunting. But—”

“Daunting?” I interrupted, my voice rising. “This isn’t daunting. This is suicidal. You’re asking me to walk into the Light Dimension, charm their queen, and possibly start a civil war in the process!”

Larry groaned from the couch, his face buried in his hands. “I feel like I’m stuck in a really bad soap opera.”

“Trust me, Larry, you’re not alone,” I muttered.

Lord Damon leaned forward, his smirk widening. “Damian, you’ve faced worse odds before. You’ll figure it out.”

“Yeah, sure,” I said sarcastically. “Because seducing a literal queen while dodging her psychotic husband sounds like a walk in the park.”

“You’re overthinking it,” Lord Damon said, waving off my concerns like they were nothing. “Just be confident. The queen values freedom, right? Show her that you’re someone who understands her values.”

“By sleeping with her?” I asked incredulously.

“If that’s what it takes,” he said with a shrug.

Larry groaned again, mumbling something about needing therapy after this conversation. I couldn’t blame him.

Puriel stepped closer, her expression serious. “I know it sounds impossible, but… the queen is not your enemy. If you approach her with honesty and respect, she might listen. She’s not like the king.”

“Honesty and respect,” I repeated, the words tasting like sawdust in my mouth. “Got it. And what happens when the king finds out? Because he will find out.”

Lilieth didn’t even blink, her voice calm but firm. “Just deal with that when the time comes.”

“Great,” I muttered, throwing my hands up in exasperation. “So, no pressure.”

Puriel shifted awkwardly, her wings twitching slightly as if she were trying to shrink into herself. “But the bad news is… we can’t access the Light Dimension right now. They’ve strengthened the border, remember?” Puriel reminded. “It’s nearly impossible to break through without their permission.”
