Dragon King's Harem Chapter 421. The Snow Elf Queen's Invitation

Dragon King's Harem Chapter 421. The Snow Elf Queen's Invitation

My gaze lingered on her for a moment longer, her steady breathing filling the quiet room. Her hair was a little messy, strands fanned out across the pillow, and I caught myself smiling at the sight.

I reached out without really thinking, my fingers brushing gently through her hair. It was soft—softer than I expected. I leaned in, pressing a light kiss to her forehead. She stirred a little, her lips parting as if she might wake up, but she didn’t. Instead, she just shifted closer to where I had been lying, a soft murmur escaping her.

I pulled away slowly, not wanting to disturb her further. As much as I wanted to stay and just… bask in this strange warmth, there was work to be done. And dragons don’t get breaks.

I swung my legs over the edge of the bed, standing quietly as I stretched. My muscles were still loose from sleep, and I had to shake the grogginess off before grabbing some clothes. Not the full formal setup—just enough to look somewhat presentable. After tidying my hair in the mirror with a quick hand comb, I slipped out of the room, my steps quiet.

The guard standing outside straightened immediately at my presence, his hand over his chest in a formal salute. I didn’t even pause. “Tell the maid to prepare my bath,” I said, my voice steady as I kept walking.

“Yes, Your Majesty,” the guard replied, already moving to carry out the order as I turned the corner.

The halls of the palace were quiet, the kind of calm that felt eerie if you stopped to think about it. I didn’t stop. My destination was clear. There was something nagging at the back of my mind, a sense that something wasn’t quite right. Whether it was the Snow Elf Queen’s invitation or something else entirely, I needed to get to my office.

The guards stationed outside my office stiffened when I approached, but I raised a hand, cutting off whatever formal greeting they were about to offer. I wasn’t in the mood for pleasantries. They got the hint, stepping aside as I pushed the doors open and stepped inside.

The moment I saw the desk, I sighed. Piles of documents—neat, of course, but still too many. My life in paper form. I moved around to sit behind the desk, letting my eyes skim over the chaos. It was going to be a long day.

“Okay…” I muttered to myself, leaning back in my chair. “If the invitation’s here, it should stand out. No way the Snow Elf Queen sends something generic.”

I started searching, flipping through papers quickly. It didn’t take long to spot it. The envelope was unmistakable—intricate designs etched into the material, faintly glowing with mana. It was cold to the touch, a stark contrast to my own heat. As a dragon, the chill wasn’t exactly comfortable, but I pushed past it, carefully breaking the seal.

Inside was the invitation. The wedding was set for two weeks from now. I frowned, my brow furrowing as I scanned the details again. “Two weeks?” I muttered, flipping the envelope over to check the date it had arrived. When my eyes landed on the date, they widened.

“Damn it,” I muttered, cringing as realization hit. The invitation had been sitting here for days. That left me with a little over a week. “This is bad.”

My mind immediately shifted gears, running through everything I’d need to prepare. Crashing a wedding wasn’t exactly a straightforward task, especially when it involved the Snow Elf Queen. I’d need to handle this delicately. Or not. Either way, I had to make a plan.

But before I could calm myself down and think things through, a loud, guttural roar tore through the air, making me freeze. My head snapped up, my instincts on high alert. That wasn’t just any roar—it was a dragon. But not one of us. This was different.

I stood from my chair, my senses already honing in on the source. “A monster dragon,” I muttered under my breath, my heart starting to race. I could feel its energy even from here. This was going to be a problem.

Without wasting another second, I moved to the balcony, pushing the doors open and stepping into the cool evening air. The roar echoed again, and this time, I could see it—a massive silhouette in the distance, its wings cutting through the sky with terrifying force.

The invitation was still in my hand as I leaped off the balcony, my wings unfurling mid-air. The familiar rush of wind hit me as I hovered, trying to get a better look. And then I saw it clearly.

An Ice Drake.

Not just any Ice Drake, though. This one was big. Too big to be just a random encounter. No… this was the Ice Drake I’d met on my first trip with Eir and Evelina. The one that had been hiding in the Ice Forest. And now it was here, right outside my capital!

I clenched my jaw, my grip tightening on the invitation. “Of course, it couldn’t just stay hidden,” I muttered, my eyes narrowing as I assessed the situation. The Drake was heading West gate, its massive body casting a shadow over the trees below.

I couldn’t let this slide. Not now, not with everything else going on.

Flapping my wings, I started toward it, the cold air biting against my skin. The closer I got, the more I could feel its raw, untamed power. This wasn’t going to be an easy fight. But then again, when was it ever?

“Alright, big guy,” I muttered under my breath as I closed the distance. “Let’s see what you’ve got.”

The Drake’s head turned slightly, its icy blue eyes locking onto me. It let out another roar, this one shaking the very air around us. My blood ran hot, adrenaline already kicking in.

This wasn’t just about defending my territory anymore. This was personal.
