The Incubus System Chapter 1113. A Bridge or A Threat

The Incubus System Chapter 1113. A Bridge or A Threat

He didn’t respond, his focus entirely on the Eye. Lilieth, meanwhile, placed a hand on his arm, silently urging him to hold back.

“This isn’t the place for a demonstration,” Puriel said firmly. “We’ll find a better way.”

The tension was palpable, but after a long, agonizing moment, Lord Damon finally relented, his aura fading.

The Eye’s voice echoed once more. “I will return. Prepare yourselves. Next time, I will expect proof of your worth.”

With that, it started to fade, the shimmering hole in the air slowly closing. I exhaled a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding, half-expecting things to calm down now. But just before the portal vanished completely, the Colossal Eye’s iris shifted—locking directly onto Lord Damon.

“But I’m not interested in you,” it said, its voice low and deliberate.

Lord Damon stiffened, his gaze narrowing dangerously. That wasn’t something he heard often. Demons feared him, respected him. Being dismissed like that? Yeah, that didn’t sit well with him.

The Eye didn’t wait for a response. Instead, it shifted its focus entirely onto me, the intensity of its gaze making the air feel heavier again. “I’m more interested in him.”

Great. Just great.

‘Why is it always me?’

“You…” The Eye’s voice sounded almost contemplative now, like it was studying something beyond the surface. “You are close. You almost have your perfect Nephilim form… A full Nephilim… Something that belongs to the three worlds and yet can’t belong to the three worlds.”

I chuckled nervously, the sound coming out a bit more awkward than I intended. “Yeah. Ironic, right?”

Nobody said anything. The room felt like it was holding its breath, waiting for what would come next. Lord Damon’s eyes flicked to me, clearly not pleased with the sudden interest the Eye was showing. Lilieth, too, looked concerned, though she tried to keep her expression neutral. Even Puriel was watching closely, her wings twitching slightly as if preparing for something unexpected.

“You walk a path that does not exist,” the Eye continued, its voice echoing with an almost hypnotic rhythm. “You are an anomaly. A bridge, perhaps. Or a threat.”

I huffed since… yeah, I heard this before. “A threat?” I repeated, forcing myself to sound more curious than panicked. “To who?”

“To balance,” it said simply, like that explained everything.

“I did nothing and what I do is trying to fix the balance. Yet you called me a threat?” I complained.

Larry, who had been trying his best to stay quiet and unnoticed, leaned closer to me, whispering, “Dude… I think it just called you a glitch in the matrix.”

I shot him a quick look, silently telling him to not make this worse.

“Why does it matter?” Lord Damon cut in, his voice sharp. “Whatever he is or isn’t, it’s none of your concern.”

“That remains to be seen.” The Eye’s gaze didn’t waver from me. “When you reach your true form, you may tip the scales. That is why I watch.”

This wasn’t just some random guardian messing with me anymore—this thing was serious, and it clearly knew more about my transformation than I did.

“Look,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady, “I didn’t ask to be some weird bridge-slash-threat-whatever. I’m just trying to keep things from falling apart.”

“Intentions do not change outcomes,” the Eye replied, its tone indifferent. “Your existence alone will force change.”

“Yeah, well, life’s full of surprises,” I muttered, more to myself than anyone else.

The Eye blinked—or maybe it didn’t. Honestly, it was still hard to tell. “Be prepared, Nephilim. I will return.”

And just like that, it vanished completely, leaving behind an oppressive silence. For a moment, nobody moved. The tension in the room was thick, and I could practically hear Larry’s heart pounding next to me.

“Well, that was… intense,” Larry finally said, breaking the silence with a nervous chuckle. “So… you’re, like, special or something, huh?”

“Yeah,” I said, dragging a hand down my face. “Special in the ‘world might end because of me’ kind of way.”

“Damian, do you know what it meant by ‘true form’?” Lilieth asked quietly, her tone unusually serious. Her eyes narrowed slightly, like she was trying to piece something together. Lord Damon remained silent, but I could tell he was thinking hard, his sharp gaze flicking between me and Puriel.

“Well,” I said after a moment, rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly, “there’s one thing I do know. My system… it kind of stopped at 80% after I had sex with Puriel.”

Larry, who had been nervously sipping on a glass of water, immediately choked. “Dude!” he coughed. “TMI! Way too much information, man,” he panicked.

Ignoring him, I continued. “I guess that’s why I haven’t been able to access my true form yet. It’s stuck.”

Lilieth frowned, looking genuinely concerned. “Is the system broken?”

“That would be just my luck, wouldn’t it?” I muttered, half to myself. “But no, it’s not broken. At least, I don’t think it is. It’s like something’s… missing.”

Lord Damon’s expression turned thoughtful. Then, without missing a beat, he turned to Puriel. “Maybe someone didn’t give it their all. Half-hearted effort.”

Puriel’s eyes flared with indignation, her wings twitching slightly as she shot him a glare. “Excuse me?”

“Dad, seriously?” I groaned, dragging a hand down my face. “She didn’t do it half-heartedly. She was all in. No complaints.”

Lord Damon raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything more. Typical. He always had to stir the pot before backing off like he hadn’t just caused a scene.

“So… why?” Lilieth asked, her gaze shifting between Puriel and me. “If the system stopped at 80%, there must be a reason.”

Puriel hesitated for a moment, clearly thinking hard. “Maybe…” she said slowly, “he needs something more than just me. Someone with… bigger power.”

There was a beat of silence as everyone processed that. Larry, still recovering from his earlier choking fit, muttered, “Bigger power?”
