The Incubus System Chapter 1094. Double Down Or Abort The Mission

That thought alone made me smile—unknowingly at first. My eyes were still on her as she held the mug tightly, her fingers wrapped around it like it was a lifeline. She looked so out of place and yet oddly at home, standing in my room wearing that self-made angelic dress. Her golden hair caught the light just right, and I couldn’t help but feel a strange warmth spreading through my chest.

Then she glanced at me, her cheeks turning pink as her gaze darted away. She peeked back once, then twice, her embarrassment growing more obvious with every stolen glance. Finally, she spoke, her voice hesitant but firm.

“Can you stop looking at me like that?” she asked, her blush deepening as her eyes flicked back to mine. She paused, gripping the mug tighter, and then added, “I… I know you’re thinking about perverted things.”

My melancholic mood disappeared instantly, replaced by the mental equivalent of a record scratch. My smile dropped, and my expression shifted into a flat stare. ‘Seriously?’ Here I was, contemplating her life in her realm, the sacrifices she’d made, the struggles she’d faced—and that’s what she thought I was thinking about?

I blinked at her, my thoughts swirling with equal parts disbelief and mild offense. But then, a wicked idea struck me, and I decided to roll with it. If she thought I was being a perv, who was I to disappoint?

A slow, deliberately annoying grin spread across my face as I took a step closer to her. “You read my mind?” I said, my tone low and teasing. “Yeah, I’m thinking about a lot of things.”

Her eyes widened, and she instinctively took a step back, her blush spreading further across her cheeks. “Ethan…” she said warningly, her voice trembling just a little.

I took another slow, exaggerated step, keeping my grin firmly in place. “Thinking about how I could corrupt you more,” I continued, my voice dipping lower. “Thinking about all the things I could do to you later.”

Her back hit the wall, and she gasped softly, her eyes locked on me like a deer caught in headlights. “Ethan, stop!” she stammered, her hands clutching the mug even tighter, as if it could somehow shield her from the situation.

Ignoring her, I leaned in closer, my voice dropping to a whisper. “The lewd things, of course. I mean, come on, Puriel. I know I’ve turned into a Nephilim, but deep down, I’m still an incubus.”

Her cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red, and I swear I saw steam rising from her ears. “You… You shouldn’t do this!” she protested, though her voice lacked conviction. “Don’t scare me!”

By now, she was completely cornered. Her back was pressed against the wall, and I had her trapped. I placed both hands on either side of her, leaning in just enough to make her feel the heat of my presence. She looked up at me with wide eyes, clutching the mug like it was her last line of defense.

It was almost too much. The way she clung to that mug, her wings twitching slightly, her entire body radiating a mix of indignation and helplessness—it was hilarious. I had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing outright.

Instead, I let my grin grow even wider, my eyes narrowing playfully. “Do you think I’m joking?” I murmured, my tone dripping with mock seriousness.

Her blush spread all the way to her ears now, and she glanced to the side, avoiding my gaze. “If… If you’re going to do that,” she said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper, “then at least… make it enjoyable for me.”

I froze.

My wicked grin faltered, and for a second, I just stared at her. ‘The heck?! I thought, my brain screeching to a halt. ‘She likes it?!’

Of all the possible responses I’d imagined, that wasn’t one of them. My carefully crafted predator act cracked slightly as I tried to process what she’d just said.

Puriel must’ve noticed my hesitation because she glanced back at me, her eyes wide and shimmering with a mix of embarrassment and something else I couldn’t quite place. “What’s wrong?” she asked, tilting her head slightly. “You’re the one who started this.”

“I—” I started, but the words caught in my throat. I wasn’t sure if I should double down or abort the mission entirely.

Her lips twitched, and I realized too late that she’d caught on. Her blush was still there, but now there was a hint of mischief in her gaze. “What’s the matter?” she asked, her voice soft but teasing. “Lost your nerve?”

Oh no. Oh no, no, no. She was flipping the script, and I wasn’t ready.

I cleared my throat, trying to regain my composure. “Lost my nerve? Me?” I said, forcing a grin back onto my face. “Never. I just… didn’t expect you to admit you’d enjoy it.”

Her blush deepened again, but she didn’t back down. “Well, you’re the one who said you’d corrupt me,” she said, her tone growing bolder. “Isn’t this what you wanted?”

I blinked, completely thrown off my game. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go. I was supposed to be the one teasing her, not the other way around.

“Well, uh…” I stammered, scratching the back of my neck as I tried to come up with a witty response. “I mean, yeah, but…”

“But what?” she pressed, tilting her head in that innocent-yet-not-so-innocent way that made my brain short-circuit.

I groaned, stepping back and throwing my hands in the air. “Alright, you win,” I said, shaking my head. “You’ve officially thrown me off. Happy now?”

Puriel giggled softly, her wings fluttering slightly as she relaxed. “Maybe,” she said, her tone lighter now. “But next time, you should be careful what you start.”

I sighed, slumping against the wall and rubbing my temples. “Noted,” I muttered. “Remind me never to underestimate you again.”

She smiled, taking another sip of her tea before glancing at me over the rim of the mug. “Good,” she said simply.

And just like that, she’d turned the tables completely. I wasn’t sure whether to be impressed, frustrated, or both. But one thing was certain—I was definitely going to have to step up my game. A faint smile appeared on my face as I saw her first proud smile.

But yeah, at least she enjoyed it.
