Before I could answer, Buni hopped closer, his long ears twitching as he chimed in. “What is it, Master?” he asked, his voice soft but curious.
I let out a sigh, standing back up. “Well, for starters, there’s the whole agreement with the Serpent Queen. Remember? I’m still bound by that deal.”
Buni’s nose twitched, his ears flattening slightly. “Oh, right… that’s a big one,” he said, his tone concerned.
“That’s one of them,” I said, running a hand through my hair. “But the other thing…” I trailed off, my mind flickering back to my dream—the voice, the strange question, the nagging feeling that it wasn’t just some random figment of my subconscious. “I just had a weird dream,” I admitted, shrugging. “Puriel says it’s probably just a dream, but honestly? It didn’t feel like one. It felt connected to something—maybe me, maybe her, I don’t know.”
Red tilted his head again, his tail slowing slightly. “Do you think it’s important?”
“Probably,” I said, shrugging again. “But for now? I’m not gonna stress about it. I mean, things are pretty good right now. This”—I gestured vaguely around the room—“this is fun. Enough for me, anyway.”
Shadow, lounging on the couch, snorted softly. “You say that now, but wait until the next disaster lands on your doorstep.”
“Oh, it will,” I muttered, taking another sip of tea. “Because my real problem is those damned demon lords. They’re like cockroaches.”
Celia, who was still scrolling through her phone, gave me a glance over the edge of the screen. “You make it all sound so easy,” she said, her tone half-teasing, half-critical.
I huffed, flopping onto the couch next to her. “It’s not easy,” I said, running a hand through my hair again. “But I can’t sit around worrying about it all the time, either. What’s the point?”
Celia arched an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. “Aren’t you also worried about this cult of yours? You know, the one that made you their god?”
I scoffed. “Oh, I already heard about that,” I smirked. But the problem was... I never really paid attention to it.
She rolled her eyes, setting her phone down on the coffee table. "So... do you even know how huge it’s gotten?" she said, grabbing the remote. “Here, let me show you. It’s easier this way.”
Curiosity piqued, I leaned forward as she flipped on the TV, switching it to an internet streaming channel. After a few seconds of buffering, a news report filled the screen. The polished anchor, a young woman with a perfectly professional smile, was mid-sentence.
“...and this so-called ‘Cult of the Great Demon’ has been gaining traction across several regions, worshipping the alleged savior as their god and claiming he is destined to bring balance to the human world.”
My jaw dropped. “You’ve gotta be kidding me,” I muttered, my eyes glued to the screen.
The broadcast cut to a montage of footage showing groups of people—dressed in black robes, of course, because what cult doesn’t have a flair for drama—kneeling in front of massive statues. And the statues? Yeah, they were me. Well, a much more exaggerated version of me, complete with wings and glowing eyes, holding a massive sword like I was some kind of apocalyptic knight.
Shadow let out a low chuckle. “Well, well, Master,” he drawled. “Looks like you’ve got yourself a fan club.”
“This isn’t a fan club!” I shot back, gesturing wildly at the screen. "I mean, yeah, I knew about it. But I always thought it was just some secret cult, not like this."
The camera cut to a dramatic close-up of one of the cult leaders, a middle-aged man with wild eyes and a voice that sounded like he gargled gravel every morning. “Our savior, the Great Demon, has come to lead humanity into a new era!” he declared, his voice echoing as the camera panned to the crowd of robed followers cheering in unison. “He is the bridge between light and darkness! The one who will save us all!”
Celia glanced at me, smirking slightly. “Sound familiar?”
I buried my face in my hands. “Oh, for the love of—what the hell is this?!” I groaned. “I mean... yeah, I’m a nineteen-year-old college student who’s also a Nephilim prince of the dark dimension and maybe an incubus. I like women, I deal with demon lords, but... I absolutely do not have time to be anyone’s savior!”
Foxy giggled, her ears twitching as she hopped onto the couch next to me. “But they think you’re their god,” she teased. “Isn’t that… flattering?”
“No!” I said, throwing my hands in the air. “It’s not flattering! It’s insane! Who even starts a cult like this?”
Shadow smirked, his tail flicking lazily. “Well, technically, you did. Or at least, you gave them the material.”
I glared at him. “I didn’t ask for this!”
“But you didn’t stop it either,” Celia pointed out, her tone matter-of-fact.
I groaned again, slumping back against the couch. “This is ridiculous,” I muttered. “I’m not a savior. I’m not a god. I’m just me.”
“Apparently, ‘just you’ is enough,” Celia said, smirking as she grabbed the remote again to turn off the TV. “So, what are you gonna do about it?”
I stared at the blank screen for a moment, my mind racing. What could I do? It wasn’t like I could just show up at one of their meetings and tell them to knock it off. Or could I?
“First,” I said, standing up and pointing dramatically toward the kitchen, “I’m going to make another cup of tea, because I can’t process this nonsense without caffeine. Then…” I paused, glancing back at my companions. “Then, I figure out how to fix this mess.”
Red barked, wagging his tail. “I’ll help!”
Foxy grinned. “Me too!”
Shadow yawned, stretching lazily. “I’ll supervise.”
Celia rolled her eyes, picking up her phone again. “You’re gonna need more than tea to fix this, you know.”
I sighed, shaking my head as I headed for the kitchen. “Yeah,” I muttered. “Tell me something I don’t know.”

He already heard it. " I nearly choked on my tea. “Huh? What cult?” I asked, blinking at her. I heard that a couple of times, maybe. But I never paid attention to it."
