When we reappeared, we were standing on the rooftop of a building a short distance from the previous place. It was an official-looking place, likely some kind of administrative or government office. I’d been here before, the last time I used this location for one of my rituals. The Shadow Ritual. Now, it was empty, the perfect spot for what I had planned.
Zalira blinked in surprise, taking a moment to adjust to the sudden change in scenery. She glanced around, her gaze sweeping over the city below, the distant lights flickering in the night. Her breath hitched slightly as she realized how far we were. “Where are we?” she asked, her voice a little more guarded now, though there was a hint of fascination in her tone.
I smirked, stepping back slightly to give her some space. “A safe spot,” I said casually, gesturing to the rooftop around us. “Far from the alarms and any prying eyes. We can finish our business here without interruption.”
Zalira frowned, her sharp gaze snapping back to me. “You’re teleporting me now?” she asked, suspicion creeping back into her voice. “You’re playing a dangerous game, Damian.”
I chuckled softly, shaking my head. “Not a game, Zalira. Just a way to ensure our contract is made without unnecessary complications.”
Her eyes lingered on me for a moment longer before she nodded, accepting my explanation for now. “Alright,” she said, though there was still an edge of caution in her voice. “But this better be worth it.”
"It will be," I replied confidently as I invoked my power. I raised my hand toward her, and the familiar energy surged through me like a black flame igniting from within. "Demon's Rule..."
[ Demon's Rule initiated… ]
The dark aura beneath us pulsed and spread outward, swirling around both of us like a living storm. Tendrils of shadow and energy coiled upward, wrapping us in its embrace. Zalira's eyes widened slightly, her pupils narrowing as the magic coiled around her body.
Her eyes locked onto mine, her lips parted slightly, but she said nothing. There was no need for words now. The connection between us deepened as the skill took hold.
Suddenly, I saw the announcement flash before her eyes, and I knew she saw it too. The expression on her face tightened as her gaze shifted to the invisible screen.
[ Do you want to give your loyalty to Damian Lucio Malignus? ]
[ Yes/No ]
"What is this?" she asked, her brow furrowing as she stared at the announcement.
"A question for your consent," I explained, my voice calm but firm. "Just choose it with your mind. Yes or no."
She didn’t respond right away. Her lips pressed into a thin line as she continued to glare at the floating text. Silence stretched between us, the only sound being the hum of the magic surrounding us. I could tell she was weighing her options.
“I never knew demons had more advanced technology than humans,” she muttered, almost to herself, her tone laced with dry amusement. Then her focus returned to the announcement. For a moment, her eyes narrowed as if contemplating whether to trust me. But she gave a slight nod, and in that instant, I knew her decision had been made.
A second later, the screen vanished, and in its place, a new announcement appeared before me.
[ Demon's Rule is in progress...]
The dark aura beneath our feet grew denser, swirling faster as the dark aura solidified its hold on both of us.
[ Installing Demon's Rule 67.8% ]
[ Installing Demon's Rule 98.9% ]
Another notification materialized.
[ Kiss your partner to seal the contract ]
I didn’t hesitate. Wasting no time, I closed the distance between us. My hand cupped the back of her neck as I pulled her closer. Her lips were soft against mine, cool and inviting, as I sealed the contract with a kiss. Even though I didn’t deepen it, the sensation was overwhelming. I could feel my Demonic Power pouring into her. Her body responded instinctively, her fingers curling against my chest.
[ Demon's Rule has been successfully completed. ]
[ Congratulations! Now, Zalira Ashelis is completely yours! ]
I pulled back slightly, my breath mingling with hers as we broke the kiss. Her eyes fluttered open, the usual sharpness in her gaze softened by the afterglow of my skill. I could see it in her eyes—the recognition, the acceptance of what had just happened. She was mine now, bound to me by an unbreakable pact. Yet, it wasn’t just ownership. It was something deeper.
“You feel it, don’t you?” I asked, my voice low, almost a whisper.
Zalira’s lips curled into a small, knowing smile. “I do feel different already,” she murmured, her voice low and full of curiosity. Her palm pressed gently to my cheek. Her eyes, still locked with mine, burned with an intensity. “But I can also feel you’re still hiding something from me.” Her gaze sharpened.
I let out a sigh. “I’ll tell you,” I promised, my voice steady.
Before she could press me further, I activated my teleportation skill. In the blink of an eye, the rooftop around us melted away, replaced by the elegance of Zalira’s chamber. Zalira’s fingers tightened on my arm as we arrived, her serpent tail coiling slightly on the ground beside her, an involuntary reaction to the sudden shift.
Mia was there, waiting, her eyes wide with concern as soon as we materialized. She had been pacing, her long lamia tail swishing restlessly across the floor, but now she stopped and turned toward us, her expression softening with visible relief.
"Is it settled?" Mia asked, her voice soft but laced with curiosity. She searched my face, then Zalira’s, trying to read the outcome.
“It’s settled,” I announced, with a slight smile. Mia’s gaze shifted from me to her sister.
Mia’s entire demeanor changed in an instant. Her concern gave way to joy as she slithered forward, closing the distance between herself and Zalira. She threw her arms around her sister, pulling her into a tight embrace, her voice trembling with emotion. “Sister, I’m glad you chose to be with him,” Mia said, her words muffled slightly against Zalira’s shoulder.
