There has been lots of bullying and toxicity in the cosplay community lately. It all began when a black cosplayer shared her Nezuko cosplay on Twitter and received boatloads of hateful and cruel comments. Sadly, this isn't anything new. Black cosplayers have struggled for acceptance and equal treatment for years. We're more or less used to it, but it doesn't make the hate any easier to endure.
My thoughts are simply this: you can cosplay whatever and whoever you want regardless of your skin color, weight, gender identity, or skill level (provided you're being respectful to minors and people of other races and/or cultures).
Cosplay is, and always will be, for everyone. It's a great way to express both yourself and your creativity. Don't let anyone take that away from you. Be kind to your fellow humans and do what you love. \(*0*)/
