His face, framed by dark, neatly kept hair, bore an expression of friendliness and warmth. His eyes were a striking shade of wood, reflecting intelligence and calm. His smile, though professional, was genuine, putting me at ease despite the formality of our meeting.
I glanced above his head.
[Name: Jareth Venomscale]
[Level: 5]
'Oh wow, he's quite strong,' I thought. It was evident that Jareth understood some form of martial arts, his controlled grace and balanced posture hinting at disciplined training.
“Mr. Damian Lucio?” he confirmed again, his tone respectful yet direct.
“Yes, that's me,” I answered.
“My name is Jareth. Ms. Diamond and Pearl asked me to take you to their place," he quickly explained, his voice carrying a formal tone that didn't quite mask the friendliness in his eyes.
“Nice to meet you, Jareth,” I said with a smile, trying to match his professionalism.
“Follow me, sir,” he said again, gesturing towards the door. His tail, strong and sleek, moved with practiced ease.
A minute later, we arrived at a parking lot near the café. A sleek black car was already waiting for us. At first glance, it looked no different from an ordinary car. The size and everything else appeared perfectly normal.
Jareth moved ahead with a practiced grace, opening the passenger door for me. "Please," he said, his voice polite yet firm, as he gestured for me to enter.
"Thank you," I replied, stepping forward and sliding into the car. The interior was a pleasant surprise. The leg space was significantly wider than a normal car, allowing for comfortable movement. The driver's seat was positioned in the middle rather than on the left, a thoughtful adaptation for the serpent tribe.
I also noticed the simplicity of the pedals. They were more similar to those in an automatic car, with just the brake and gas. This design made sense for the serpents, who lacked legs and needed a straightforward way to control the vehicle.
Jareth closed the door behind me with a soft click, and the interior lighting dimmed, creating a private, intimate atmosphere. The windows were tinted with a dark film, ensuring that no one could see inside. It was an added layer of security, especially for me.
I watched as Jareth moved to the driver's seat. He settled in and adjusted a few settings before glancing back at me through the rearview mirror. "Are you comfortable, Mr. Damian?" he asked, his tone professional but not devoid of warmth.
"Yes, thank you," I replied, appreciating the thoughtfulness that had gone into the car's design.
Jareth nodded and started the engine, the car purring to life with a quiet hum. We pulled out of the parking lot and onto the main road. The streets of the Serpent Rock Kingdom were a blend of old-world charm and modern efficiency, the buildings a mix of traditional architecture and contemporary design.
"The place is not far and the journey only takes five minutes," Jareth announced, his voice breaking the comfortable silence of the car. I nodded in acknowledgment.
I looked out of the window, observing the surrounding streets of the Serpent Rock Kingdom. The city was alive with activity, even in the evening hours. Lampposts lined the sidewalks, casting pools of warm light that illuminated the intricate details of the buildings. The architecture here was a blend of ancient and modern, with traditional serpent motifs woven seamlessly into contemporary designs. Stone carvings of serpents coiled around columns and doorways, their eyes gleaming with inlaid gems that caught the light as we passed.
Well, I had come here a few times before, appearing as the great demon to hunt those who had escaped from my world. My visits were always focused on battle. My mind was sharp and alert attuned to the hunt. I never took the time to notice the details of the city, to appreciate its unique blend of cultures and architectural styles. To me, a building was just a building, a backdrop to my missions.
Just like Jareth had said, the journey only took five minutes. Soon, we arrived at our destination. I was expecting a typical high-end hotel, but what greeted me was far more impressive. It was a villa, nestled in the middle of the city. The contrast was striking. It was a real oasis of luxury amidst the urban hustle.
I suppressed my shock, maintaining my cool exterior. My initial reaction was to want to exclaim, “How much money do you guys have?!” But I held my tongue. After all, I was a prince of darkness myself, with more wealth than this. It was just that most of my riches were in the demon world. The shift from being a poor student to a prince of darkness with power, authority, and vast territories often made me forget just how much wealth I had accumulated. During my time as a demon lord, I worked more than I enjoyed my power, and it was moments like these that reminded me of the luxury I rarely indulged in.
‘I should enjoyed my wealth more…’ I cried internally. But every time I went back to that realm my thoughts filled with my responsibility and duty. It felt so unfair…
I glanced around slowly, trying to mimic how a wealthy man would behave if he arrived at a new place. At least, it was what I saw in the movie.
The villa was grand, its architecture blending seamlessly with the surrounding cityscape yet standing out with its elegance and opulence. Tall gates framed the entrance, wrought iron intricately designed with serpent motifs, a nod to the serpent tribe’s heritage. The driveway was lined with lush greenery, meticulously maintained and adding to the secluded, exclusive feel of the place.
Jareth parked the car smoothly in front of the villa’s entrance. He stepped out first and opened the door for me. “We’ve arrived, Mr. Damian,” he said with a polite nod.
“Thank you, Jareth,” I said, stepping out of the car. The cool evening air brushed against my face, carrying the faint scent of blooming flowers from the villa’s gardens.
