The Incubus System Chapter 955. No Longer The Same

The Incubus System Chapter 955. No Longer The Same

Celia’s PoV

She knew Ethan had found a new identity as a demon lord, and while he hadn’t lost his core personality, there was a shift in him. He seemed more at ease with his new role, more comfortable in his own skin, but that change also meant he was no longer the same brother she had grown up with.

Her mind drifted back to how Ethan used to be. She could vividly remember the boy who was once so innocent. Her brother, the one who had never even gone on a date before, always found it difficult to say what was on his mind. He never had the courage to approach the person he loved, his shyness was a barrier that kept him from expressing his true feelings.

Ethan had been painfully shy, lacking confidence in his appearance. He often avoided mirrors and blushed furiously when anyone complimented him. He was awkward around girls, stumbling over his words and never quite knowing what to say. His insecurity was something Celia had always found endearing, a reminder of his gentle, sensitive nature.

But now, all of that had changed. Even without being in his incubus form, Ethan exuded a confidence that was undeniable. He was more comfortable in his own skin, his appearance now something he embraced rather than shied away from. His features had sharpened, giving him a more commanding presence, and he carried himself with a grace and assurance that was both captivating and intimidating.

Ethan no longer hesitated to speak his mind. He was direct, often brutally honest, and didn’t shy away from difficult conversations. This newfound assertiveness was a stark contrast to the boy who once struggled to voice his thoughts. He seduced women with ease, his charm and confidence drawing them in effortlessly. He slept with many, a fact that still unsettled Celia despite understanding it was part of his nature as a lust demon lord.

And then there was the killing. Though he had never killed humans—at least, as far as Celia knew—Ethan had fought and killed demons. The thought of her brother, once so gentle and hesitant, now capable of taking lives, was something she still grappled with. It was hard to reconcile the image of the shy boy who couldn’t even ask a girl out with the demon lord who fought and killed with his own hands.

Celia remembered a time when the idea of Ethan hurting anyone, let alone killing, was unthinkable. The old Ethan didn’t have the guts for it. He had always been the peacemaker, the one who sought to resolve conflicts with words rather than violence. But now, he wielded power and strength with a ferocity that left her both proud and heartbroken.

Celia felt a wave of emotion wash over her. The memories of their past, the changes they had both undergone, and the burdens he carried weighed heavily on her heart. Kneeling down beside the sofa, she leaned in close to her brother and whispered, her voice filled with a quiet intensity.

“Thank you, brother. I don’t know what I would do without you. Thank you for everything and all the sacrifices you’ve made.” Her voice trembled slightly as she continued, the words pouring out in a soft, heartfelt confession. “I’m sorry I haven’t been able to help you much, but I promise I will try to help as much as I can.”

Tears welled up in her eyes, but she held them back, focusing instead on the love and gratitude she felt for him. She gently kissed his forehead, a tender gesture that held all the affection and appreciation she struggled to put into words. Her hand moved to the top of his head, stroking his hair gently, just as their father used to do when they were children.

Celia stood up, ready to leave him to his rest, but as she turned, she felt a sudden grip on her hand. Ethan had caught her hand, stopping her in her tracks. She looked down, surprised to see his eyes open, albeit sleepily.

Ethan's PoV

I opened my eyes slowly, the world coming into focus as I felt the warmth of Celia's hand in mine. I looked up at her, noting the hint of shock on her face, quickly replaced by embarrassment. A soft smile tugged at my lips as I broke the silence.

“Please don’t say you don’t know that I can detect movement around me even when I sleep,” I said, my voice low and slightly teasing. I would be honest—not all movements, but those that were too close, dangerous, or filled with clear killing intent. But they were too loud. There was no way I couldn’t detect when all my pets, Foxy, and Celia approached me, my house members all watching me sleep. I had even wanted to open my eyes and complain to them, but since Celia asked them to go to her room, I undid my intention.

Celia’s cheeks flushed, and she quickly pulled her hand away from mine. “You shouldn’t pretend to be asleep,” she retorted, trying to regain her composure.

“I was sleeping,” I replied, a hint of complaint in my tone. “But then you guys came.”

I put my arm over my eyes, blocking the light—or maybe covering my face so she couldn’t read my expression. My other hand held the cardigan she had draped over me, now my makeshift blanket.

Celia pouted slightly, her expression tinged with both guilt and frustration. "Sorry for bothering you," she muttered, rising to her feet. She started to turn away, but I couldn’t let her leave like that.

"Celia," I called, my voice soft but firm. She stopped in her tracks and turned to face me again, her eyes wide and questioning.

“You don’t need to feel sorry,” I said, my voice carrying a note of sincerity. “I just do what I have to do. I don’t expect anything from you. I just want you to have a happy and safe life.”
