Seven Sins System Chapter 410. Why Her?

Seven Sins System Chapter 410. Why Her?

"So that's what's been bothering you?" she surmised, her tone sympathetic.

"Yeah," I confirmed, a weight lifting off my shoulders now that the truth was out. "Now that I know you're the goddess. Now the question—" I narrowed my eyes, my expression turning serious. "Why did they choose you?" I cut to the heart of the matter, the question that had been gnawing at me since we began our investigation. Whatever had led to the alteration of her summoning formation was undoubtedly the root cause of all the chaos.

There was a pregnant pause as she considered my inquiry. Her gaze darted from side to side, as if searching for an answer in the empty space around us. Finally, she spoke, her voice tinged with uncertainty. "I don't know," she admitted, her words heavy with resignation.

"At all?" I pressed, needing to be sure that she wasn't holding back any information.

"At all," she confirmed with a shake of her head, her expression mirroring my own frustration and confusion.

"You don't have any clues?" I queried once more, my hope dwindling as she shook her head from side to side.

The silence stretched between us, thick with unanswered questions and unspoken fears. I couldn't help but feel a sense of confusion gnawing at the edges of my mind. Was she also grappling with the same forgetfulness that had plagued me before? And could that be the reason behind the occasional instability of her powers?

Lost in my thoughts, a sudden realization struck me like a bolt of lightning. ‘Or... Is that the main reason why the thread of fate is wrapped around our wrists?’ I blurted out internally, the pieces of the puzzle finally starting to fall into place. ‘Does that mean whatever happened to her is related to the ancient demon in my body?’

It was a theory born out of desperation, a desperate attempt to make sense of the chaos that had engulfed us. But as the pieces of the puzzle began to align, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was onto something. And if my hunch was correct, then the truth behind her altered summoning formation could be far more sinister than we had ever imagined.

I glanced at her, and a thought flickered in my mind. ‘Wait... she's not the one who kicked the demon from the light realm, right?’ I pondered silently, my thoughts racing as I considered the implications. In my head, it just didn't add up. She didn't strike me as the type who wielded that kind of power. But then again, neither did the old version of me when I faced off against the ancient demon. Somehow, against all odds, I managed to defeat him.

‘I guess I was lucky,’ I mused to myself, a wry smile tugging at the corners of my lips. Luck had played a significant role in my victory, that much was certain. But could it be possible that she, too, had experienced a stroke of luck and managed to banish the demon from her realm?

My gaze lingered on her, my fingers tracing absentmindedly along my lips as I studied her. There was something about her, something that sparked a flicker of recognition deep within me. Was it the connection to the ancient demon, or was it something else entirely?

My brain worked overtime, trying to piece together the puzzle before me. I searched for any similarities between her and the ancient demon, any clues that might shed light on their connection. But as I analyzed her, I couldn't shake the feeling of detachment. There was no sense of familiarity, no hint of the animosity that the ancient demon had harbored towards me.

Her sharp retort caught me off guard, her displeasure evident in the furrow of her brow and the downturn of her lips. "What's with that disgusting look?" she snapped, her tone laced with annoyance.

I blinked, taken aback by her reaction. "I'm just trying to analyze why, out of all the goddesses, they chose you. Why you are the only one who has a loop in your summoning formation?” I explained, my words coming out in a rush as I struggled to regain my composure. "I mean, 'Patience' is acting more mature than you and 'Diligence' is more reliable. Why you?" I posed the question, hoping to provoke a response that might shed some light on the situation.

But instead of offering any insights, she responded with a biting sarcasm that cut through the tension like a knife. "I don't know. If I could ask, I also don't understand why they chose you instead of 'Pride' or 'Lust'," she shot back, her tone dripping with sarcasm. " 'Pride' is more generous to mortals as long as they praise him, and 'Lust' is more friendly than others as long as there are women," she added, her words laced with bitterness. It was clear that she harbored her own frustrations and resentments to me.

‘That's very passive-aggressive,’ I thought, unable to hide the cringe that crossed my face at her biting sarcasm.

"Did you just... tell your opposite better than me?" I questioned, my tone heavy with disgust. The implication behind her mention of 'Lust' was not lost on me, and it stung more than I cared to admit.

She sighed, her frustration evident in the furrow of her brow. "You also just did it," she shot back, her words laden with accusation.

I found myself at a loss for a comeback. She was right, after all. It wasn't my intention to offend her or belittle her in any way. I simply couldn't shake the nagging curiosity that gnawed at me, driving me to seek answers.

I wanted to understand what set her apart from the other goddesses, what made her summoning formation the chosen vessel for whatever dark forces were at play. It wasn't out of malice or spite, but rather a genuine desire for clarity.

With asking the question, I hoped to provoke a deeper introspection on her part, to encourage her to delve into the nuances of her own identity and power. Perhaps, in doing so, she could uncover some hidden truth or revelation that would shed light on the mystery that had brought us together.
