I gave her a dry smile, the kind that says, "Yeah, I know what's up, but I'm not about to spill the beans unless you really want me to." It was a moment of irritation mixed with amusement.
"Do you seriously want me to be honest or would you rather pretend I don't know and say nothing about it?" I asked, my tone laced with annoyance. It was a rhetorical question, really. Of course, she wanted the truth, but sometimes the truth was a bit too much to handle. "You're sitting on my core, so I can feel it," I added, not bothering to beat around the bush.
Her reaction was priceless. She shifted away from me as if my very presence was causing her discomfort. "This is because of your stupid manhood," she grumbled, clearly flustered. I couldn't help but chuckle inwardly at her embarrassment. It was endearing in a way, seeing the goddess of chastity lose her composure like this.
But just as quickly as her embarrassment showed, she masked it with a veil of stoicism. She lowered her head and turned away, refusing to meet my gaze. It was a defense mechanism, I realized, a way to shield herself from the awkwardness of the situation.
I sat down and turned to her, my expression a mix of frustration and incredulity. "You expect my body won't react to that?" I questioned, my tone tinged with exasperation. It seemed like a logical point to make, but logic didn't always seem to apply in situations like these. I let out a scoff, unable to contain my irritation. "I will snatch your title if I can do it," I added, my words dripping with arrogance.
She responded with a sneer, her gaze meeting mine with a hint of defiance. "So much talk," she muttered, her voice laced with disdain. It was clear she wasn't impressed by my bravado.
I shook my head, trying to refocus the conversation. "Put that aside," I insisted, my tone shifting to one of seriousness. "What do you want to do to them?" I asked, casting a wary glance around the cramped confines of our surroundings. It was important to stay focused on the task at hand, no matter how tempting it was to get caught up in the banter.
Her response was unexpected. "I want to purify them," she declared, her voice firm and resolute. "Their thoughts, to be precise." It was a noble sentiment, one that spoke to her inherent goodness, but it also raised practical concerns. "But if I do," she continued, her expression clouded with uncertainty, "they might turn around and won’t take us to their leader."
I frowned, processing her words carefully. "So you don't know what you want to do?" I clarified, a hint of frustration creeping into my voice. It was frustrating to be caught in this limbo, unsure of the best course of action.
She let out a long sigh, her shoulders slumping in defeat. "No," she admitted, her tone tinged with apology.
“Right. I can curse them then,” I declared casually, the idea of unleashing my devilish powers on those despicable kidnappers already forming in my mind. I was ready to teach them a lesson they wouldn't soon forget. My fingers hovered over each other, ready to snap and cast the curse, but before I could, she intervened.
Her hand reached out and grabbed mine, halting my movement. “Wait! You can't,” she interjected firmly, her voice carrying a note of urgency.
I furrowed my brow, my confusion evident. “Why? They are literally trying to rape you,” I reminded her, frustration creeping into my tone. It seemed like a no-brainer to me—if anyone deserved a taste of my wrath, it was those vile individuals.
“Yes, but that's because the cult has brainwashed them,” she countered, her voice calm as she offered her explanation. “It's also possible that those dark crystals have influenced the way they think.”
My jaw dropped as I realized where this conversation was headed. "So you wanted to forgive them?" I asked, my tone incredulous. "I mean, I understood the brainwashed part, but were you sure you wanted to just forgive them? You did realize what they'd done to their previous victims, right?" I emphasized the gravity of their actions, hoping to make her reconsider.
I got it, she was a goddess, and forgiveness was kind of her thing, but there had to be some accountability for what those criminals had done. "Forgiving such heinous sins just didn't sit right with me," I added, my displeasure evident in my voice. It felt wrong to simply brush aside the atrocities they had committed, especially considering the impact it had on their victims.
Sure, the brainwashing played a significant role in their actions, but it didn't excuse the harm they had caused. Forgiving them without any consequences would have sent the wrong message—it would have suggested that they could get away with anything as long as they were under some kind of influence. That wasn't a lesson I was willing to endorse.
I shifted uncomfortably, trying to understand her perspective but struggling to reconcile it with my own beliefs. "Didn't you think they should face some kind of punishment?" I asked, hoping to provoke some thought on her part. "I mean, what they did was unforgivable, right?" My words hung in the air, waiting for her response.
She pressed her lips together for a moment, contemplating her next words carefully. “You have something more tame than that, right? Like alter their memory?” she suggested tentatively.
I couldn't help but give her a skeptical look. "They want to harm you, and you're suggesting I just hypnotize them?" I exclaimed, disbelief evident in my tone. I shook my head in disbelief, struggling to comprehend her reasoning.
Sure, altering their memory might prevent them from acting on their harmful intentions, but it felt like a Band-Aid solution to a much deeper problem. These guys needed to face the consequences of their actions, not just have their memories wiped clean as if nothing happened.
