The Incubus System Chapter 906. My Demon Prince Ego

The Incubus System Chapter 906. My Demon Prince Ego

I typed my reply.

Ethan: OK. When could I head over?

Camila: Around lunchtime. Like noon, I guess?

Ethan: Deal.

Once I hit send, I tossed my phone aside and flopped onto my bed, staring up at the ceiling. "I feel like some secret fling," I grumbled to myself. It used to be kinda thrilling, being all sneaky and secretive, but now it was starting to bug me a bit. Maybe it was because I was getting tired of all the secrecy, or maybe it was just my demon prince ego acting up again.

I had always been used to being in the shadows, keeping things low-key, but lately, I couldn't shake this craving to be more... visible. I was the freaking prince of darkness, right? Shouldn't I be strutting around, showing off my stuff, and letting everyone know who's boss? It was like this weird mix of wanting to be recognized and wanting to keep things low-profile, and I wasn't sure which side was winning out.

I sat up on the bed, running my hands through my hair in frustration. "Seriously, Ethan, get it together," I muttered to myself. It was like I had this constant battle going on in my head, between my demon prince side and my human side. One minute, I was all about embracing my demon heritage and strutting around like I owned the place, and the next, I was telling myself to chill and remember why I was here in the first place.

But I guess that was the thing about being caught between two worlds. It messed with my head, big time. One minute, I thought the demon world was the worst place ever, and the next, I was pining for it like it was some kind of paradise. It was like I couldn't make up my mind about where I belonged.

And then there was this whole ego thing. Like, who did I think I was, acting like the world owed me something? I had to remember why I was here, what I was fighting for. It wasn't about me and my ego trip; it was about something bigger, something more important than just my own desires.

So yeah, I had to keep myself in check, remind myself why I was here, and stay focused on the goal. No more letting my ego run the show. It was time to get serious and make things happen.

The sound of the ringtone snapped me out of my thoughts, and I quickly grabbed my phone to see who was calling. It was Pearl, which was a bit unexpected. I answered the call and held the phone to my ear.

"Hey," I greeted.

"Let's have a date!" came Diamond's enthusiastic voice through the phone.

I raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Oh, you're with Pearl?" I asked, not expecting that.

"Yeah! But we're in SerpentRock Kingdom now, not in Aeros," Pearl replied.

"A SerpentRock’s noble is having an event tonight, remember? She also invited us," Diamond chimed in, breaking the news.

I blinked in surprise. "Wait, she invited you too?" I hadn't expected the party to be that big, but the fact that Pearl and Diamond were also on the guest list suggested otherwise.

"Yeah. The ones who are engaged are Mia's cousin after all. So this will be a huge party!" Diamond added, excitement evident in their voice.

"You will come, right?" Pearl interjected before I could even respond to Diamond.

I nodded, already considering the implications. "Yeah," I confirmed, "But that means I can't be seen with you guys before the party, right?" I wanted to make sure we were all on the same page.

Pearl let out a sigh on the other end of the line. "Yeah, that's probably for the best," they conceded. "We'll keep a low profile until then."

"Ah, you're right," Diamond responded with clear disappointment laced in their voice.

I tilted my head, considering our options. "So should we hang out somewhere else?" I suggested, trying to lighten the mood. "I have 'that skill', remember?" I teased, referring to my ability to create portals.

Diamond sighed, clearly frustrated by the limitations. "But where? We can't just walk around here in peace. People might recognize us," they pointed out.

I nodded in agreement, racking my brain for a solution. Then it hit me. "How about Ledred?" I proposed. "It's Pearl's place, so it should be possible, right?" I suggested, feeling a bit awkward about the oversight. "Plus, I haven't checked on the club's management in a while," I admitted, realizing that as the owner, I should probably be more involved.

Pearl's words made me chuckle. "The 'other' world will belong to you one day. The club is insignificant to you now," she said, her tone filled with a hint of exasperation. It was clear she was referring to the demon world, but they were being careful not to openly discuss certain topics, likely due to the sensitive nature of their surroundings. I imagined they were probably in the palace or somewhere guarded by the royal family.

Diamond chimed in, echoing Pearl's sentiment. "The college is also insignificant for you now," she remarked, her tone carrying a mix of admiration and disbelief. "I didn't expect the poor student who I thought was a nobody to be a prince," she added, her words laced with a hint of teasing.

Pearl couldn't contain her excitement. "I think we hit the jackpot, sis," she exclaimed, a grin spreading across her face.

Diamond nodded enthusiastically in agreement. "Indeed, a jackpot," she affirmed, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Powerful, rich, and handsome," she added with a playful giggle, giving me a friendly nudge.

"Don't forget, he's wild on the bed," Pearl added, her tone playful and sassy.

They closed with laughter, but I couldn't help but interject. "Uh, I'm still here, guys," I reminded them, playfully pointing out that I was the subject of their gossip. Their laughter only grew louder at my comment. It was all in good fun, and I knew they were just teasing me.
