The Incubus System Chapter 905. Double Date With Who?

The Incubus System Chapter 905. Double Date With Who?

It was amusing how people always tried to rationalize things beyond their comprehension. They'd witness a giant demon battling a jelly monster, and suddenly it became all about power struggles and territorial disputes. Sometimes, I wished they could see the bigger picture, and understand that there was more to this world than met the eye.

*Ding*

The notification lit up my phone screen. A message popped up, and I couldn't help but crack a smile.

Emma: Sure! I'd love to meet you! I'm free this evening, do you want to meet in my room?

I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at her suggestion. "Room?" I mumbled to myself, feeling a slight cringe creeping up. I was thinking more along the lines of a casual outing, like hitting up the mall or grabbing a bite to eat. But hey, if she was comfortable meeting in her room, who was I to argue?

Emma had always been a bit on the shy side, preferring privacy over public displays of affection. It was not that she was standoffish or anything; she just valued intimacy and emotional connection more than anything else. And I was not complaining. There was something special about sharing those quiet moments together.

I knew Emma well enough to understand that she wasn't the type to rush into anything physical. She was more about building a deeper connection, delving into the intricacies of our relationship rather than jumping straight into bed. And honestly, I appreciated that about her. It was refreshing to be with someone who valued emotional depth over superficial encounters.

With a shrug, I typed out my response.

Ethan: Is 08.00 PM okay for you?

Emma: Yes! I will be waiting for you <3

Ethan: Cool, see you then!

With the plans set, I set my phone aside and stretched out on my bed, feeling a sense of anticipation building up. It was always exciting to spend time with Emma, even if it was just hanging out in her room. There was something about her presence that made everything feel a little brighter.

Soon after, Camila's message came in.

Camila: I have free time today. Should we go for a double date?

I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. ‘Double date?’ I quickly tapped out a reply.

Ethan: Double date with who?

Camila: Me and Damian. Olivia with Ethan <3

I let out a laugh at the playful suggestion. But then I realized something—Camila rarely cracked jokes like this, and her use of emojis was a dead giveaway.

Ethan: Olivia, is that you?

Camila: How do you know it's me?

Ethan: Your mom rarely tells jokes and never uses emojis.

Camila: Ah, I should reply to you more formally.

Her response only made me chuckle even more.

Ethan: Anyway, it'll be Damian who goes with you guys. I'm still under surveillance.

Camila: Are you serious?

Ethan: Yeah, I'm serious.

Camila: Should we just hang out at our mansion?

Ethan: The place is up to you. I mean, I'm okay as long as I'm walking around in my secondary form.

Camila: Hmm, I know that's a good idea. But I think hanging out in the mansion is still the best idea right now. Some places and restaurants are closed due to your last fight. Everyone knew it was a battle between two demon lords so they're taking more caution now.

Once I read Camila's message, it was like a slap to the face, but one that I sorely needed. "Of course, they're all afraid. How could I forget about that?" I mumbled to myself, shaking my head in disbelief at my own oversight.

It was becoming clearer to me that my ability to empathize and understand human emotions was waning. Maybe it was the prolonged exposure to the demon world or perhaps the acceptance of my demonic nature that had dulled my sensitivity to human concerns. Whatever the reason, I couldn't deny that I was experiencing a sort of reverse culture shock.

But acknowledging my shortcomings was the first step towards rectifying them. I made a mental note to be more mindful of the impact my actions had on those around me, especially in light of recent events. After all, I may have embraced my demonic side, but I was still tethered to the human world, and I owed it to those who still saw me as Ethan to respect their fears and concerns.

I typed my reply quickly, wanting to confirm the plan with Camila.

Ethan: OK. I'll be there but as Damian. Should I go there through the front door or what?

I hit send, waiting for her response. I needed to know if I should keep things low-key or if it was safe for me to arrive openly.

Camila's reply came swiftly, her message hinting at the surveillance that I was all too aware of.

Camila: The ‘You know who’ is watching you, right? Just meet us in the room as usual. We can have lunch together there.

Of course, she meant the demon hunter association. Her words were a reminder of the constant scrutiny I was under, especially from those who viewed me with suspicion. It seemed like I would have to stick to the usual routine of sneaking in through the back to avoid drawing unwanted attention.

I sighed, feeling a twinge of disappointment at the thought of another clandestine rendezvous instead of a carefree outing with Camila and Olivia. But as much as I craved a normal date, I couldn't ignore the reality of our situation.

"Yeah, I guess it's too risky," I muttered to myself, acknowledging the validity of their concern. With Beel and Zatan still lurking out there, ready to strike at any moment. Sure, my incubus protection offered some level of security, but against formidable opponents like Beel and Zatan, it might not be enough to guarantee our safety.

"Better to play it safe," I concluded, nodding to myself. The last thing I wanted was to put Camila and Olivia in harm's way, especially when we were already on high alert.
