The Incubus System Chapter 892. Failed Product II

The Incubus System Chapter 892. Failed Product II

I had delved into the doctors’ minds and quickly realized that none of them were the senators I was after. They were simply the heads of this particular laboratory, overseeing the experiments and operations conducted within its walls. It was a disappointment, to say the least, but it also gave me hope that someone else might eventually come along who could provide me with the information I sought.

“Take a rest first, Ethan. Maybe your strength will appear in a few days,” the male voice behind the glass broke through my thoughts, urging me to rest and giving me a glimmer of hope that my strength might manifest in the coming days. I couldn't help but feel a surge of frustration at the delay.

I lifted my head to address the voice, my tone tinged with impatience. "Where?" I questioned, eager to be free of this sterile environment and continue my search elsewhere.

"Here," came the reply. "You must not leave before we confirm your condition," he reiterated firmly, leaving me with no room for argument.

I couldn't help but feel a pang of frustration at the response. It seemed like every avenue I explored led to a dead end, leaving me with more questions than answers.

"Is there someone else going to check on me later?" I pressed.

"We'll see about that later," came the vague reply, leaving me feeling even more frustrated. It seemed like I was just being kept in the dark, with no clear indication of what was to come.

Feeling a surge of determination, I leaned closer to the mirror, hoping to appeal to the person on the other side. "Can I meet you? Can we talk?" I asked earnestly. "Maybe you can teach me how to use my hidden power," I reasoned, hoping to strike a chord with whoever was listening.

But my hopes were quickly dashed as the voice responded with a firm denial. "No. Sorry. I'm just here to give instructions," he stated bluntly. "Only those doctors will treat you."

I let out a sigh of resignation, realizing that my efforts were futile. It seemed like I was on my own in this strange and unfamiliar place, with no one to guide me or offer me any assistance. It was a sobering realization, but one that I had to come to terms with if I wanted to navigate this situation successfully.

Taking a deep breath, I tried to push aside my disappointment and focus on the task at hand. "Right... So I won't get any more than this?" I thought to myself.

I leaned in closer to the mirror, my gaze intense as I stared into the reflective surface. "Please..." I began softly, my voice tinged with desperation. At the same time, I focused my mind, calling upon my skills to manipulate the thoughts of whoever was on the other side of the glass.

‘Manipulation.’

This was the first time I used this kind of skill in front of a two-way mirror like this. I could only hope this didn't go back to me.

It was a risky move, using my abilities in such a situation. I couldn't afford to let my guard down, knowing that any misstep could have serious consequences. But I was willing to take the risk.

Luckily, it worked.

[A human is in your Manipulation skill’s influence.]

‘Meet me here or turn the mirror to ordinary glass so I can see who is there,’ I ordered.

“Okay,” the man on the other side of the mirror responded, his tone surprisingly compliant.

Suddenly, the reflective surface transformed into transparent glass, revealing the figures standing behind it. There weren't many people present – just the chief, the man who had been speaking to me, and two others who appeared to be his bodyguards. It seemed that this place was strictly off-limits to demon hunters, reserved solely for the creation of new recruits.

I used my Observation skill at the individuals before me and couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment. None of them were the senators I had been hoping to uncover. Instead, they were merely the ones responsible for my current predicament.

With a resigned sigh, I realized that my efforts to extract valuable information from them had been in vain. Despite my best attempts to manipulate the situation to my advantage, it seemed that I had hit a dead end. The chief and his associates were unlikely to divulge any secrets willingly, especially now that they knew I was onto them.

"Right, this is useless," I muttered to myself, feeling a sense of frustration wash over me.

Once again, I focused my mind and unleashed my Mind Corruption skill upon the man before me. I delved into his thoughts and searched relentlessly for any trace of information regarding the senators' identities. Unfortunately, my efforts were in vain once more. It seemed that this man was not privy to such classified information.

Frustration gnawed at me as I realized that uncovering the truth would not be as simple as I had hoped. Well, even Mrs. Clea was unable to definitively identify the elusive senators, relying instead on mere speculation and guesswork. So, I couldn’t say anything.

With a heavy heart, I made the decision to abandon my pursuit. It was clear that my attempts to extract information through manipulation were futile, and I could ill afford to waste any more time on fruitless endeavors.

‘Alter. Let me go and report me as a failed product,’ I commanded, my voice firm and unwavering. ‘There's no need to detain me any longer. And inform your superior that you administered a substance that induced temporary memory loss in me.’

“It seems keeping you here is useless. You are a failed product after all,” the man behind the glass declared, his voice carrying a tone of finality.

“So, I can't be of any use to you guys?” I queried, feigning reluctance.

The chief's response was blunt and devoid of any sympathy. “You are useless,” he stated matter-of-factly, leaving no room for argument.

With a resigned sigh, the chief turned to his companions, issuing orders without a second thought. “Give him up and take him to where you took him. We're done with him,” he instructed, his words sealing my fate.
